I'm going on a trip for two weeks, I'm wondering if that will be long enough for my four-month-old puppy to forget about me - she will be staying with other family members. We've had her for about two months - will she remember me "forever", or how long before she forgets who I am?

I don't know exactly. We have a dog that was rescued from an abusive family. The family had a little boy. Everytime the school bus stops to drop off kids across the street, the dog sits out front and waits. We have had the dog for 10 years now and he still waits whenever the schoolbus comes.

Now, he was a year or two old when we got him. That is a lot different from a 4 month old. One thing that you can do to help is leave some clothes with your scent for the puppy. Yes, I do believe I just told you to leave some dirty clothes. A couple of shirts would do. Something the dog can use to remember you. It also helps ease some separation anxiety.

Some dogs never forget.

Since we are talking about a puppy, she might or might not: After all, she is still in the middle of growing. But since you are going to be gone only for 2 weeks, chances are good she will remember you.

Enjoy your trip!

When I first had my pup i had him for about 4 month when my mom went away for a week and a half and when she came back he was extatic but while she was awy the pup was really upset so im thinking that even though you would have him for less then four months he will still rember you.....just play with him now and spend a lot of time wit him so when he sees you again he associates you wit good times.

Dogs usually remember ppl forever. I know she's a little puppy but if you have been treating her with love like I suspect you have, she wont forget that and will be SO happy to see you when you return.

I truly believe NEVER! I've adopted out hundreds of dogs over the years, and many of the owners have come back to visit me. No matter how long it had been, the dog/s absolutely recognized me. Don't worry!

if you have already made bonding with the dog, it will never forget you, until he dies.
