A neighbor brought me two dogs because she is no longer able to care for them. The only local shelters I know of kills when over populated. I'm trying to find family homes for the two dogs. 1) SHEP/CHOW mix, beautiful rust color, tips of black, 2 yrs old. 2) PIT SHEP mix, looks like a Pitt in the body, head, face, but colored like a german shep. 1 yr old. I have both of these dogs up to date on vacs / worming, They were housebroken, but for the last 6 months been living outside. The Chow mix was originally saved a year ago from the Humane Society a few hours before her turn to be put to sleep, the Pitt mix was found walking along the busy interstate, dodging cars at the young age of 6-8 weeks old. I'm willing to drive a reasonable distance to meet with you. Can anyone make room for these two wonderful dogs?

I'm going to feed my puppy a raw diet but I'd like to make sure what human foods are OK and not OK to feed adult/puppy dogs. OK or not OK:

-Cauliflower
- Cuccumber
- Carrot
- Apple
- Banana
- Tomato
- Lettuce
- Pear
- Celery
- Flake (shark)
- Mango
- Broccoli

Assuming the vegetables were a mix of raw and steamed/boiled and the fruit was fresh.

Also, how much of these foods should I feed per week, if at all:

- Cottage cheese
- Egg (with shell/hard boiled)

Thanks!

Is this her just losing her puppy fur or normal spring time shedding? She is up to date on all shots. We haven’t changed food recently so I doubt it is a problem with her diet. We bathe her every 3 weeks and use a dry shampoo in between bathes. She gets brushed several times a day.
What else can we do?

Please help ... I am interested to know ANY experiences people have had when their dog is in heart failure. Our collie was diagnosed yesterday and we have been told she probably has not much more than a week if we let her go naturally. Apparantly, her internal organs are failing but how can the vet tell this by just listening to her heart and breathing ? We were told there is nothing the vet can do to ease any pain and we have to make a decision about whether or not to let her go but it is so hard as even though she has collapsed with heavy breathing 3 times the last week, in between this, she is quite alert and seems okay, although her breathing is often heavy with a kind of growling noise. On doing some research, I see that dogs can carry on for some time with heart failure and although I trust the vet we saw, I just need to understand why he thinks her time is so limited. Also, if anyone has let their dog go naturally, was it quick or traumatic for them or yourself ?

I have had my heart set on a Whippet for a long time (yes, I did all the proper research. It’s not just a whim), but I’m about to give up and go with my second or third choice breed (both of which I would be more than happy with if a Whippet is an impossibility).

For the past year or so, I have been trying to find a whippet breeder within close driving distance (3 hours maximum; I’m relying on someone else for my ride, and I don’t want to ask for much more than that from them) from Erie, PA. I have checked dozens, if not hundreds, of online sites that list breeders and/or puppies available. The closest place I was able to find was 6+ hours away. I think it would be hard and scary for a pup to be shipped to me, so I’d really like to pick it up myself.

My border terrier weighs 10.8 kg and should be 7.5kg. he gets lots of exercise. For the past year i have been feeding him Chappie dry food.

Having researched the net, I am going to feed him a fresh food diet of 60% meat, 30% oats, half carrot and a drop of sunflower oil as I think a natural diet is healthier.

I'm gradually changing over his food and daily calorific value will be 400 calories.

Could anyone with a border terrier let me know their feeding regime? And if this amount of calories will do the trick.

He only started putting on weight 3 months ago.

cheers!

i just checked my dogs temprature, and it was 99.9.

does it mean she will give birth????

because they told me that if the temp is under 100 degrease that they will give birth witin 24 hrs.

but im jus wondering cause if u think about it its 99.9 degrease, 0.1 degrease lower.

My chihuahua's skin on her stomach and neck is usually light pink, I noticed it today, but it must have changed like practically over night! It kind of reminds me of Cyanosis (in humans) do dogs get this too?? She seems to be perfectly healthy, and hasn't changed at all...except her color. It's weird, I don't really have the $ to take her to the vet right now, but if I have to I will, she's more precious to me than a couple hundred bucks. :(
