Shelters have a rule that the former owner has given up all claim on a surreneded dog, and will not allow you to see him/her..The most that they can tell you is that the dog found a good home..

Chetco is right on this point. Shelters and most rescues feel that when someone gives them a dog for adoption, that they are not a long , lasting home that will continue to provide for the dog. They feel that once it is relinquished that decision would come about again and the home is not secure. I have even seen rescues put dogs down rather than give them back to their new owners. This was a private breed rescue, because she felt anyone who relinquished a dog was not a good home, and that the dog was really old and was not adoptable. Sad story, but true.

Too bad. You don't deserve that dog back. How can you "accidentally" put the dog in the pound? Obviously if you thought you didn't like it and you only realized how much you liked his bark, you don't deserve the dog back.
Telling by how bad your spelling is (sis, acitendally, da) and how you refer to the dog as an "it" instead of he or she, I not only doubt your love for the animal, I doubt this question is even true!

This is life. We make decisions and we are forced to live with them. Perhaps next time you will consider your decisions a little more carefully. In the grown up world we cant just change our mind and have everyting back the way we would like it to be. You dog belongs to someone else now. Someone who chose to adopt a dog that noone wanted. By the way, accidents are not premeditated.

Sorry, to say but it's too late. What if a young child got that dog and would be heartbroken because you changed your mind? You didn't "accidently" put it in adoption! Chalk it up to a lesson learned and get a new dog if you really want one. But taking care of a dog is a serious commitment so if you have doubts, wait a few weeks to see if you still want one.

You won’t be getting it back, and thank goodness, because you don’t deserve it or any dog. You “felt like you didn’t like it anymore” so you “accidentally” put it up for adoption, huh? Do you realize how disgusting that sounds?
I’m very glad the dog will now get to experience what a real home and real love is. Do yourself and everyone a favor, and get a robot dog, or a stuffed one. At least with that you can throw it away when you decide you don’t like it anymore without looking like such a monster.

The only thing you can do is contact the people you took her too, and see if they can share the name of the people that they adopted her too. It may be private and you may have to just let the dog go.

You can't accidentally give your dog away........ Pets are not Disposable items to do with as you wish..... Hopefully your pup has found a home with someone who will love it and take care of it. DON'T get another pet until You are ready for the responsibility of a pet. Buy a stuffed animal, you don't have to feed, walk or care for it and if you get tired of it you can just through it on the bed and forget about it........

unless you could find someway of getting them to tell you who adopted and and how to contact them, nope I don't think you can get it back. And the new owner wouldn't be happy to find out you would love to have it back. I had to get rid of some of my animals to a humane society. 2 of them got put down after just three days. just be glad it found a home a guess. I know it is hard but...... I made my decision spur of the moment too and now i regret it. I wish I wouldn't have moved somewhere that I couldn't have them. I really do. So I am sorry for your loss because I know how you are feeling.

Do not try to get him back. Having a dog means to be responsible and have enough love for him. Don't get a pet until u grow up ! ps. The dog is not an "it" its he/she...
