Be positive - like humans, there are many many ailments and conditions before you have to consider tumours etc. When my dog was a puppy he had three operations to remove lumps he kept getting - the vet said this is quite common. Stop her running up and down the stairs and make sure you don't overexercise the pup - while their bones are developing etc you have to take it easy. She will be fine. x

It's unlikely, though not impossible. If she keeps banging her leg, that is probably what has caused the lump (just think about yourself if you've ever bashed your shin on the coffee table or something!).

The vet would be able to get a very good idea from x-rays, as the reaction of the bone tends to be quite different if a tumour is present. If you're worried, take her to the vet and put your mind at rest :o)

Please place a stairgate at the bottom opf the stairs so as not to aggravate the problem any further. Don't let your dog jump down off anything high either.
This could be a bone spavin, or a tumour. The X-rays will tell.
A bone spavin is a chip caused by stress (running on hard ground or a knock.) But you can't rule out a tumour until the results are through. Fingers crossed.

The lump could be from another bang. just like when you bang an area hard and get a lump. But yes, just like people, animals can develop illnesses at any age. I am not sure how much could be seen on an xray, but i do know that bone cancer can be detected. Your vet knows his business, i am sure, and if he suspects anything really amiss, will order further tests and get to the bottom of it.

Puppies are clumsy! They are still developing their motor skills just like a human baby does. Toddlers fall all the time as they are learning to walk. I would still recommend taking the pup to a vet though, as any unusual lump should be evaluated.
