where i live there is a pit bull and at times its our loose and its hard to get to the garbage?

the dog is loose without a collar and makes it uneasy to go to the garbage without fear of getting bite, dont know what to do. I have told the land lord since I am renting but he has done nothing

Tell the police / sheriff / animal control. There are laws against dangerous dogs running loose.

If you really told the landlord and he did nothing, your next thing is to call the animal control.
They will give the owner of the dog a warning, the second time around, the dog gets taken away.
I own the sweetest pitbull on earth, but I would never let him run around like that, collar or no collar. If nothing else, it's not safe for the dog.

Stupid people should not let their dogs loose without a lead and dumb incompetent landlords should listen to their tenants.
Talk to the owner about their dog and let them know that his presence by the garbage can is menacing. Bad gets to worst, throw the dog a treat, like a piece of fried bacon.

There are too many dog attacks (Not just Pit Bulls) in apartment complexes, especially when there are people who are afraid of them. Dogs sense fear. If you always act afraid to a dog, no matter how small, they will bite and tear you to shreds.

Has the dog actually acted aggressive? Either call the dog's owner or animal control. Unfortunately because it's a pit bull this could be the end of the dog, but it's the responsibility of it's owner who is letting it run loose.

you have 3 choices -the first you will have alot of garbage in your house.

the second you will be hauling garbage in the jail

the third-since the person knows the dog is loose already dont care what you think about it-so you call up the police they will either give u a number for animal control and times or may also register a complaint--specify u do not want your name used in the report

Is the dog mean? Just because it's a pitt doesn't mean it's going to bite you! Don't be afraid because of the name! Most pitts are sweet dogs. Regardless there are leash laws and NO dog should be out loose running around. Call your local animal shelter and report the dog loose and if you know who the owners are let them know.

The best advice is get your local animal control to catch the dog, there is no reason to have dogs running around loose. Then maybe the new owner will keep the dog under control.

pits are normally nice to people... just try and find the owner and talk to them.. please don't call the shelter.. there are too many pits dying there already.. i am sure you will be fine if you walk into your house with the dog running loose.. if he comes up to you and doesn't seem nice, dont look him into the eyes, and if he acts as if he is going to bit, give him a piece of clothing instead of having him bit you. But I have been around hundreds of pits and have been fine, even when the dog is in a scary situation.

Have you talked to the dog owner? If they don't listen, then call the pound about a loose pit bull. Maybe the irresponsible owner will think twice about leaving their dog outside and unattended.

would you fill the same if it was any other breed i agree something needs to be done but not because it's a pit but because the dog is obviously neglected the breed dose not mater a German Shepperd is just as likely to bit that's like saying all Mexicans are lazy or all blacks are thieves or all Swedish women are super models or all Southerners are rednecks
