Get to an obedience class immediately! Pottytraining should have been completed months ago but that's not my biggest concern. The "nipping" is unacceptable behavior and you MUST get that corrected before your "puppy" is out of control. Get an expert if you need it. That dog will be far too large to "nip" at a gentle hand. If you have hit him in the past STOP IMMEDIATELY. You must never strike an animal - it will only cause them to be defensive and aggressive to all touch and when that dog is full grown you are going to want a gentle giant not a nightmare.

Always remembers your dog wants to please you. Show him love and positive attention and you will have a dog you are proud of, will be a good companion and will be kind to all who see him.

Best of luck to you and Jerusalem.

Don't worry about the potty training--get him to a professional trainer! A dog that big can cause some serious damage if the behavior isn't changed! Nipping or biting is never to be tolerated with any breed!

For me there can be only one reason the dog is nipping...there is pain somewhere. Also if you hit it often with your hand then he is protecting himself from your hand.
After a good vet check to rule out reasons for the nipping then every hour and half I would take him for a walk and reward him immediately for going potty (which i said when rewarding my puppy) then bring him right back in the house. this way they associate that going out is the potty place and good things happen after potty. Also i would give food treats with my hand and pet and pet with that hand immediately while he is eating the treat. He will see that hands can be fun.

Please seek the help of a trainer-you should not allow a dog of that size to be nippy. You need to get someone who knows what they are doing to help you-there is nothing wrong with having a problem, but not addressing the problem IS wrong and well end up with the dog in a shelter.

Your first concern should be teaching the dog that it is not acceptable to nip you. Try yelping loudly when he does that... loud enough that it scares him. You can also firmly grab the loose skin on his cheek and tell him no.
