I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep avery close eye on them. Our cat is one fourth the size of our dog and is declawed. We got the dog when he was four months old and our cat was 3 years old. The cat has always made it VERY clear that he is in charge. One hiss from the cat and our dog is as flat as he can get on the floor. LOL.

I have had ALLOT of babies and here are some suggestions. First and foremost, cratetrane, meaning that when you are not there you get a very big cage to keep her in and in the beginning she needs to sleep in there so she does not mess all over, is best for all involved. Other than that, always keep her in eyesight, keep a spraybottle for if the cats get nasty, and try to introduce them slowly, but if you bring her home on a Friday night and stay home with her all weekend there is no need to worry really. Preferrable if you can come home for lunch, but if not just get a pet sitter. Make sure to pay attention to the cats as you pay attention to the baby so they are not jelouse.

The best thing to do is to not introduce any new people to the dog for atleast two weeks. The sayings about dogs and cats are NOT TRUE!!! They get along just fine. I'm pretty sure that you're dog will be real shy at first, but don't be surprised if one day your dog starts barking and playing around curiously! Yes it's true that dogs get diseases from fleas and other danders, so to keep yourself and your canine safe is to get your dog's monthly check-ups and veterinarian shots. Give your dog a bath every other day . . .

well it depends on the cats attitudes but the detail you gave i think they will be all right with each other......and not all disieses come from fleas and the ground ... most of it is from the air or it is airborne.... well anyway i think your cats and new puppy will get along fine expecially if you keep your eye on them for a while and let them get used to each other before you leave the house agian

when you are home lock the 2 cats in a bedroom and let your new puppy get used to the house. when you leave put the puppy in that room and let your cats have the run of the house. after a few days they will get used to each others scent and you can introduce them and let them play supervised... and go from there. that's what we did and it worked out good. there were a few fights because our cat just had kittens, but overall it worked out OK.

Ooooooh dear, I don't like your puppy's chances of keeping an unscratched nose for very long ... but he will learn pretty quickly! Take the vet's advice about deworming, flea treatment etc. Heartworm in particular is a killer in Australia and you really need to stay up to date on that. And look out for ticks!!!
