I have 2 female chihuahuas, one is almost 2 and the other is just over a year old.
The thing is, a couple of days ago I found one of the youngests claws on the floor and another 2 today.

They seem to be falling off, or breaking off, there's no blood and she doesn't seem to be in any pain walking, and after checking her "toes" she still seems to have part of the nail there.
I find this really strange as it's never happened to my eldest Chihuahua.

Does anyone know if this is normal? could she have some sort of infection in her claws that they are falling off?
Something else that I though might be that she was loosing puppy claws? not that I know if this is something that can happen as I never noticed it with my first Chihuahua.
I know that they loose there puppy teeth, does the same happen with claws?

Or could it even be that they need trimmed and like human nails are breaking off because they are not clipped short enough?

Any answers would be helpful!

thanks

My boyfriends pom went in to the clinic yesturday because he wasnt acting normal. They said that he has pancreatitis, and I am wondering how good of a chance he has to recover. The vets seem to skip around my question.
Thanks :)

My old dog, an Airedale, died from cancer a few months ago. Now I am looking for a new dog and I don't know what to name it or what dog to pick. And also, is a girl or boy easier to take care of?

We have been taking our dog on walks with a group of other dog owners. When we started he was great, had a good time. He still enjoys it but he has started getting much more aggressive. Not towards the dogs in our group but any other dog at the park. He barks and growls and jumps and stops listening to anything we say when he can see another dog. It's getting worse and worse. Last time, we just had to leave early because he was being so obnoxious. What is causing this? How can we stop it?

I know this is a weird question, but this is the first dog I've ever had in my life, so I'm unfamiliar with the ways dogs act....

My dog (black lab/blue tick hound mix) has been very excited to be around me today. So much so, that his wee-wee is making a permanent appearance. Not just a little peek... I'm talking about a full appearance.

Like I said, this is my first dog and I've only had him a couple of months. He's still under a year old. But he's also fixed. So what's up with him showing his... um... urges?

What's also weird is that he seems to only be doing it around me. When he's with my husband, he's not as "excited".

Is there something wrong? Or is this natural? Can someone explain the what and why of his sudden new state of arousal-- if that's what it is? Or could he just be "airing it out"?

Thanks...
T.

She is a designer breed, half labrador and half border collie. She has NO interest in toys. You can throw them, roll them, make them smell like her favorite treat, she WON'T play with them. The only thing she chases is squirrels and our other dog =[ Why won't she play with us??
