Talk to your vet since he's so young. Most flea products recommend you wait until they're at least 8 weeks or older since they can be toxic to younger dogs. Your veterinarian will be able to prescribe you with the proper treatment for his age.

Do NOT use flea products ( including Frontline and Advantage), especially OTC (which by the way should not be used on any dog/puppy) including shampoos and collars on a puppy this young.
Give a bath with plain Dawn dishwashing liquid and rinse thoroughly.Keep warm and out of drafts until dry. Use a flea comb to comb off fleas and flea debris. Keep a container of alcohol or hot soapy water nearby in which to put the combed out fleas & debris.
When the puppy is 8 weeks old go to the vet and get a good safe flea product.

***this puppy should be with it's mother for at least 2 more weeks. in most states a puppy by law must have completed it's 7th week before it can be rehomed//in other states it is 8 weeks.*****

no don't use flea shampoo my vet told us NOT to do this. There is really nothing you can do except go to the vet and get this little pill that kills all the fleas that are on his body (its not that expensive) and then flea bomb your home and make sure all of your other pets have had anti-flea medication put on him. I believe the puppy has to be at least eight weeks before they can apply advantage or any other sort of flea treatment. The little pill thing really works, my puppy had fleas when i first took him to the vet, he was about 7 1/2 weeks old, (my dumb self brought him to show a friend who had a cat and he also had 1970's style green shag carpet in his house) It killed all of his fleas which is good since Scotties are notorious for having severe flea allergies. I believe my vet is very knowledgeable in this area considering that he is the president of the veterinary medical association for my state.

Most flea shampoos are toxic to pups that young, luckily you don't need to use it, just use baby bath. Wash his bedding and hoover every day becuae they'll be in the house too. If you can get a steam cleaner, do the carpets.
6 weeks is a bit too young for a pup to have left Mum, a vet check would be a good idea as he also needs to be wormed. Flea bites transmit tapeworm. A breeder that lets you take a 6 week old pup is unlikely to have had Mum vaccinated or wormed, so get him checked out.

Hi, I had the same problem, only i had 5 pups who were 4 weeks old. the pup is too young to use flea shampoo on it, anyway they are not all that good anyway!! Get a bowl or small bucket of warm water, put a drop of wahing up liquid (just a small bit), then using a flea comb, dip it in the water and comb through the pups hair, put the comb back into the water after each stroke make sure to remove any fleas and eggs. The eggs look like small pieces of black dots, and the fleas will obviously move, however will become stunned by the water. they are black/brown in colour.

Really hopes this helps, try to keep the pup warm making sure you dry it after.

Good luck

Ask your vet/petshop for adive, I don't know if there are anti flea products for 6wks old puppies.
If not, I'd do the following: give her a bath either using a puppy shampoo, or a baby shampoo (preverably lavender scented as fleas hate that).
On top of that vacuum your house really well (at least daily for a while if you don't do that already) and buy one of those special fine thoothed combs that comb out the eggs. Take her outside at least two times a day and comb her with the comb. When I went through this with my doggie, I took a bowl of water with me and dunked the comb in the bowl after each stroke, and afterwards I flushed the contents of the bowl down the toilet, I figured that was the best way to ensure that the eggs could not hatch anywhere near me or my dog.

Good luck!

Hi there I am a Veterinarian Technition and hope I can help you and your puppy! DO NOT shampoo your puppy, he is way too young and may have an allergic reaction to the shampoo... that stuff is very strong!! I really advise against it. The best way to get rid of fleas is to apply Frontline. Frontline is a topical solution in which you apply on the back of the neck. It is recommended that you apply Frontline once every month to prevent fleas/ticks. The Frontline will kill any live fleas and larva within a few hours of you applying it. Make sure you purchase the corect type of Frontline. It is packaged by weight. You need to buy the formula for puppies 6 weeks old and older. Good luck and hope this helps!!!

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

Call a vet. A 6 week old puppy is too young for frontline, advantage, and probly even flea shampoos. I know that they say Dawn dish soap works, but get the regular kind. I would first ask a vet.
