My old dog, an Airedale, died from cancer a few months ago. Now I am looking for a new dog and I don't know what to name it or what dog to pick. And also, is a girl or boy easier to take care of?

I'm very sorry for the loss of your Airedale.

I think you should still with the Airedale as you already know what their temperament and personality is like. Based on looks, size and personality, I would pick the Giant Schnauzer but it's your choice. I have found that female dogs are more reserved and can get mood swings, male dogs are much goofier and bouncier. I have only ever had female dogs but that is only because I would rather not deal with behavioral issues like humping, spraying and wondering.

how about a portugese water dog? seems you are picking on dog, solely on looks,,, not a good thing... go to akc.org and research all the breeds,,, then research breeders,,, then when you find a reputable breeder,,, they will interview you,, get to know you,,, and they will match your personality with that of the pup that best fits you,,,, whether it be boy or girl..... good luck *** you really want to take your time in finding a good breeder so you won't be dealing with cancer again
