I know this is a weird question, but this is the first dog I've ever had in my life, so I'm unfamiliar with the ways dogs act....

My dog (black lab/blue tick hound mix) has been very excited to be around me today. So much so, that his wee-wee is making a permanent appearance. Not just a little peek... I'm talking about a full appearance.

Like I said, this is my first dog and I've only had him a couple of months. He's still under a year old. But he's also fixed. So what's up with him showing his... um... urges?

What's also weird is that he seems to only be doing it around me. When he's with my husband, he's not as "excited".

Is there something wrong? Or is this natural? Can someone explain the what and why of his sudden new state of arousal-- if that's what it is? Or could he just be "airing it out"?

Thanks...
T.

I just thought of something....

Last night, I went to a friend's house. Her female dog has just had puppies recently. I held both the female dog and her puppies. Could my dog be smelling the female?

The only problem with that theory is that I've taken a shower since then...

Can my dog still smell the female? And could that be the cause of his excitment?

Just wonderinng...

Mr or Mrs "no name"... I'm not going to masturbate my dog. I love my dog... but not that much...

Thanks for your answer anyways...

My puppy does it too. I'm not concerned when it happens. I've had another dog before but my puppy now does it a lot more than my other dog did. Hopefully he grows out of it.

it's probably normal.
i have a female dog, but every once in a while she goes crazy and starts...humping everything that moves.
if it doesn't stop within a few days, you might want to ask a vet.

Fixing a male-anything doesn't necessarily mean a loss of sex drive. I mean after all, it is spring time.
