hypoallergetic dogs do not shed...

I actually asked this same question over 6 months ago. I found that truly there is not such thing as a non shedding dog but there are a few breeds to which you and I would never notice. The choices I came across were a poodle, bichon Frise, and Chinese Crested. These didnt interest me in a bit. Then I learned of the most amazing dog. A dog who grows up to 60 pounds, is great with children, is used in rehabilitation for children due to its "non-shedding" and almost dander free hair. It was a labro-doodle. Mine is 7 months now and shes amazing. Smart, lovable, and doesn't shed.

All dogs shed, some just shed less hair and not as often. Poodles are the most well known breed that supposedly don't shed. The reason people think they don't shed is due to the fact that their hair has a longer growth cycle than a lot of other breeds meaning that the hair follicles die less often leading to less shedding. Here's a link to an article about this topic.

All dogs shed, but some less than others. Dogs shed with the change of the seasons. Short-haired dogs shed a little less than those with longer hair though.

All dogs shed to some extent some more than others.
There are various coat types: single-coated dogs, who do not have a thick undercoat; dogs whose coat continues to grow, like human hair, rather than shedding regularly; and hairless dogs. These breeds usually shed less dander and hair.

Dogs with longer hair tend not to shed as much as dogs with shorter hair. For example, the bishon frise breed, does not shed, but has long hair, than can just be trimmed, if you're not a fan of fluffy dogs.

There aren't very many dogs that don't shed. I only know of two breeds that don't. They are very cute but very expensive. The cheapest I have seen is $200.00! The names are maltese and havanese.
