The water bottle squirt works well for many dogs. Any method you choose requires a lot of patience, the dog won't learn on the first try. Some dogs though, hate the water squirt so much that it actually sets them off.

When the dog barks, squirt and say NO very firmly. If he/she stops, immediately treat her and tell her she's a good dog. Keep doing this. It will take weeks, not days, but keep it up and she'll learn that its ok to bark once to alert, but its not ok to keep barking.

The other critical thing is to make sure there isn't a reason. I had my window shade up, and my dogs could see the neighbor dog, and they were barking at her. When I lowered the shade, they were fine. There may be some particular trigger, you need to try and figure that out. Is it always in the same spot (front door, back door), or does it appear to be reasonless? This won't be easy, but it can be done. Good luck!

You can get a low voltage shock collar that is set up to give her a shock when she barks, or u can influence her to bark and if she doesn't give her a treat, but if she dose DO NOT flip her in the nose but say "no" and gently bop her on the head, when she doesn't bark BE SURE TO GIVE HER A TREAT then after awhile she will quit. I had to do this to my black lab when i 1st got her.

Use a water bottle and spray her when she barks. If this does not work, talk to your vet about other remedies besides surgery. A 'friendly' barking collar may solve the problem.

DO NOT use a bark collar, imagine if you were in pain and crying and then somebody beat you for crying,it's a vicious circle.Dogs bark for a reason,it might not be clear why the dog barks, find a trainer who uses gentle training methods.

surgery makes it worse... they still bark, but it is a hoarse raspy sounding wail that they make,,,, trail your dog,, or better yet... get one of those nylon muzzles from petco and use it when in the care etc.. also when she barks in the house,, say QUIET and possibly squirt a little lemon juice in her mouth.... ** i find it hard to believe that she just barks for no reason... there has to be a reason..... also,, rottie x terrier?? what kind of terrier?? had to be an airedale...

You can but please please please DON'T get a bark coller. My dog had a coller like that and it was SO bad. We put it on and she started barking so it shocked her. Then she kept barking cause the electricity was freaking her out. She sounded like she was in a lot of pain. She wouldn't go near us for a week! And then the same thing happened with my neighbor's dog. Just promise:
No surgery
No bark collar
