1.Advocate - the problem with ear mites is that they don't only live in ear can live in bedding and on dogs coat so if treat with a product that treats the whole coat more likely to get rid of parasite.
2. Treat ALL animals in household
3. Have you had a definate diagnosis of ear mites? Can get a secondary infection due to ear mites so may need to have another ear swab looked at under microscope to see if the parasites are still present.

Are you sure it's ear mites and not ear infection? If your dog is already on a heart worm meds have your vet change your dog to revolution, it kills ear mites too, you have to apply it in two weeks instead of once a month for the treatment of ear mites.

Go to the vet, ear mites can be very persistent and can also cause deep infection in the ear canal and cause deafness. If everything you have tried has not worked you need to get better stuff - the vet can give you that.

This is what my vet told me. I used it on my dogs, calves, pigs, and goats. Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar to 1 cup of water. Take an eye dropper or syringe and wash out the ears 2-3 times a week. Worked for my stuff. Give it a try. Can't hurt. Let me know if it works on yours. Good Luck.

If you aren't getting anywhere with your treatments, you should see the vet. Perhaps you are treating the wrong problem. It could very well be a yeast infection, the black **** from a yeast infection looks very similiar to ear mites.

Maybe white german shepherds are different from other breeds but my vet has recommended either mineral oil or a high-grade vegetable oil. I've used both mineral oil and extra virgin olive oil and it seems to work really well. Make sure you swab the ear out well and dispose of the tissues right away.

i have had good results using olive oil. put a couple drops in the ear, leave it a few minutes, then clean thoroughly with a q-tip. do this every few days for a couple weeks. the theory is that the oil smothers the mites. good luck
