She will come out sooner or later, don't force her. My husband and I can't argue around our male bulldog or he hides also. Even if we just get loud playing or joking, he gets upset. We have learned to try to take it into another room, as if he were a child.

I had a dog like that.....she was very sensitive.
Get on your hands and knees and crawl half way into her crate and just hang out there for awhile lovin' on her and with a nice lovey voice. And then after awhile, maybe 7min, or so start smiling and getting excited. Like maybe counting her toes and laugh and giggle and this will get her in a better mood too. Then take her for a walk... what ever word you use for walks ...use it.. Just be real happy around her after you have had one on one time with her in the crate.
Sensitive dogs like this remember everything. So just be gentle and patience. And all should be allright.
It's like trying to get a little kid to understand....but without the communication through words....
Take good care of you and you sweetie. And ditch the fella?

Dogs can feel the stress in the house. If things are OK between you and your fiance now make sure to show her it's OK. If you guys are not OK she feels it. If you were arguing about her she is DEFINITELY feeling the stress and needs to be told it's OK. Sit outside of her crate and reassure her that everything is OK. Take your time and be patient. If things are OK with you and your fiance, both of you sit and reassure.
It must have been some argument. De-stress and things will get better.

lol.."grow up, stop arguing"? Everyone argues...whether a child, adult or senior. Just reassure your dog that she did nothing wrong by talking to her, offer a small treat if need be. I think it would be best that both you and your fiance ( Because she heard the both of you arguing, not just a one-sided thing) spent a little time playing with her, ..throw a ball, play with a tug toy. Then she can understand that neither of you are angry or displeased with her.

Sheesh! It's a dog...not a human. Yes, they sense tension, but they are not thinking..."Oh my, my owners are fighting, I think I'll go hide." This dog knows it is not the alpha in the home....this is a very good thing. When there is conflict submissive dogs will avoid it. Simple. Finish your argument then take the dog out for a walk, don't baby it.

ignore her don't give her any attention until she comes out don't call her or anything dogs are not like people they do not need reassuring if you give her attention when she is in this state of mind it will cause a lot of even worse problems such as biting if you pet her or give her attention when she is in a stress state of mind it reinforces that state and the dog thinks that is how she needs to be even an old dog

Talk quietly, approach in slow increments, offer loads of treats and praise and keep your tone mellow. Let her rest against you (contact for my dog is always very, very important) and stroke her head and back until she calms down. May help to have your fiancee do the same to restore household balance!
