A change in dog food would probably make the dog poop less. However, Eukanuba is not a very good food. Better foods are not going to be available in the grocery store or most big pet stores. Good foods would be:
Solid Gold
Merrick
Timberwolf Organics
Wellness
Innova
The Honest Kitchen
Some other foods that are good but not quite as good as the ones listed above are:
Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul
Natural Balance
And yes, you can train your dog to poop in just one area of the yard. When your dog uses the bathroom (either poop or pee), say a word that you want associated with going to the bathroom like "potty" or "go pee" or something like that. Whenever your dog uses the bathroom, praise the dog afterwards and use the word that that you chose, for example, while the dog is peeing say "Good potty!" a bunch of times and pet the dog when it's done.
Eventually the dog will know that "potty" means going to the bathroom. At that point you should be able to tell the dog "Potty!" before it goes to the bathroom and that will let the dog know that you would like it to pee or poop right now. Once the dog understands the command, you can just take the dog to the area where you want the "potty" to happen, and give the potty command. Do the same thing every time, and the dog will realize that this is the potty spot. It might take some time to train the dog to learn the command though.

You can train your dog to poop in a certain location. Keep them on a leash when they go outside, take them to the spot and wait for them to go. Once they go right away (within 2-3 seconds) treat and praise your dog. This may take awhile because at this point your dog is used to having the whole yard as its potty, retraining that can be time consuming, but is possible!
Also what kind of food are you feeding your dog? Look on the ingredients, if you see anything with the words "by product meal" then you may want to switch your dog food. By product meal is just a bunch of fillers and not at all good for your dog, it also doesn't get absorbed by the dogs body. They end up just pooping it out, if you take the by products out of their food, then they have less poop, and firmer poop! Makes it easier to pick up!

Most pet stores carry "pooper scoopers". One piece looks like a shovel and the other side has a 3 sided box. They have LONG handles so you can maximize the room between your face and the poop. You simply push or scoop the poop into the little waste receptacle and then you can throw it away. They are about $10 and well worth it.
You can also go to a Army surplus and buy a gas mask. Even if it doesn't help it will make Pool Patrol more fun.
Have fun on "poop patrol".

you can get from most pet stores and some home centers or department stores a pooper scooper which is like a small long handled dustpan and rake.
It lets you collect the poop without bending over.
You can take him outside on a lead and try to teach him to poop in the same area each day .

wow i can TOTALLY relate to you!! i foster dogs and of course i have doggie do-do clean-up. per sonally to keep me from gagging and getting sick i put a plastic bag right on over my hand (sometimes double it) and pick it up and don't breathe for a little bit (haha) so i don't smell it. there are doggie pooper scooper clean-up devices that you can get at your local pet supply store.
if you want your dog to poop less, change its diet. sometimes a bad diet or too much food is all it can take to have a heck of alot of poo to clean up! good luck!!!

Change the dog food....most brands from supermarkets are full of garbage and fillers that make the dog go all the time and then they are always hungry. Eukanuba is the best brand around. it is more money but well worth it they poop once a day....its clean and neat, with little odor and no FARTing.

You should change his food to something higher in quality and with less fillers (corn, wheat, grain, etc.). Two brands that I highly recommend are California Natural and Innova. It will make his stools firmer and he should be pooping a lot less.

that sucks! no you can't make him stop pooping, that would be cruel, lol. if i were you i would feed him dry food only (no cans) and only the recommended serving per day, no matter how hungry he looks. don't just fill the bowl everytime its empty. the more he eats, the more he poops, and invest in one of those pooper scoopers they have at pet co.
