Every owner should use crate training as an aid to housebreaking. This is for the benefit of the dog (& you). If they are loose in your house when you are gone ... they will have an accident during the housetraining period. Every accident you allow to occur is reinforcing the "wrong" behavior & making the desired behavior more difficult to secure & lock in!
Just as you would with a child, remove the dog's water about an hour before going to bed. Do not allow your puppy or unhousebroken older dog access to areas in your house where you cannot keep an eye on them (this is true for chewing, as well).
If you do not CATCH them in the act ... DO NOT SCOLD THEM!!!!! When dogs go potty, they are doing what comes naturally ... nature calls. Initially, they do not understand the ground rules. Inside vs. outside is a foreign concept ... they have to go ... so they do! It is up to YOU to teach them that outside is desired & inside is not acceptable. If they have an accident & you do not see them do it ... do not scold & do not let them see you clean it up. Note: Scolding is verbal. Spanking or other physical methods do NO good at all.
If you catch them in the act or immediately after (walking away), DO SCOLD them, show them the problem, further scold them ... BUT THEN, as you take them to the door to go outside ... BE HAPPY & EXCITED!!!! This means "let's go outside, let's go potty". If you continue to SCOLD them all the way to the door & as you put them outside ... SCOLD "you get out there & do your business!!!!!" Well, you have just told them that "inside" is bad & "outside" is bad. So, where in the heck are they suppose to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These elements are ALL reliant on YOUR consistency, patience, & routine!!!!

The best way I found is to "crate" train a puppy. Dogs don't normally like to defecate where they "live" and so will hold it as long as they can if they are in their crate. There will be accidents but with responsible supervision, plenty of potty breaks outside, and lots of love you will have your puppy potty trained in time. Leave your puppy in his crate when you are out of the house (only a few hours at a time or you'll come home to a mess) and at night. It may seem cruel but it's not. Your puppy will probably cry but know that you are doing what is best and you and your dog will be thankful in the future. I did this with my bulldog and it worked beautifully and now his crate is his "house" and he loves to go in there to sleep or just hang out. This is another benefit to crate training. Never treat the crate as a "punishment". You want the crate to become your dogs "house". Never punish him by putting him in his crate when he's bad and never pull him out when he doesn't want to come out. The crate becomes a safe place for your dog when he is overwhelmed or just needs to extra security.
When you are home don't leave him unattended. If you see him squatting to go quickly tell him no and pick him up and take him outside. Stay outside until he goes or it's been about 5 minutes. No playing while outside. Put him on a lead so he'll learn to realize this is potty time, not party time. This will save you an immense amount of time when you need to leave the house and the dog needs to "go".
Be patient and loving and you will succeed.

I trained both of my puppies by taking them outside about every 30 minutes and waiting for them to go. Then when they went I praised them and gave them a treat. You also need to watch them when they are in the house because if they start sniffing around an area that means they are looking for somewhere to go. Make sure you pick them up quickly and get them outside. When you do this tell them lets go potty so that they associate the outside with potty. Of course the more you praise them and treat them the more they are going to want to please you. Good luck.

Great irony in that query. There are days that I appear at my 2 and all I can see is open mouths and a stack of vet expenditures. Luckily they experience this and do anything lovely instantly. I feel you received fortunate with the bathroom coaching, on account that cats are not as a rule very influenced to do some thing that YOU desire them to. The most effective human phrases my cats have ever understood ought to do with their meals dishes and the door. "Out?" and "Eat?" are the level in their vocabularies. I did produce other cats, who've due to the fact that long past to that nice mouse-stuffed meadow within the sky, that knew the phrases "snackies, toy, deal with, dinner and are available on". Of the 5 further phrases, 3 have been approximately meals once more. I feel to get delight out of your $seven-hundred.00 cats you are going to ought to be content material with letting each person understand how a lot you paid for them and that you'll be able to manage to pay for to hold them in variety. What are they paying you for hire? And what is the foreign money? We get approximately a part a mouse each 2 days. I have not discovered easy methods to flip that into coins but. Maybe I would promote dwelling-made mouse flambe.

Get a cage called a crate. It is only a metal cage that can purchased online or in a pet store.
Make sure it is adjustable for the dog as it grows.
Dogs do not like to go to the bathroom where they sleep, so when you let her/him out get them outside right away and make sure they go outside.
When they do give lots of praise!

When my Bubblegum was a puppy I took her out every hour and a half. I carried her outside put her down and said gently "go potty". As soon as she was successful I picked her up talked real happy to her and brought her back inside and played ball with her. At night she slept on my bed nearest the wall...when she had to go she would wake up and start walking around on me to get down...sure enough...we ran outside and repeated our routine and back to sleep we went. Soon enough she would go to the door and I'd ask "want to go potty" and she would get all happy. Just TLC and patience...remember the dog isn't getting trained...you are!

take it outside every hour for a long time until he starts getting the hang of it. say the same thing everytime, like a key word or phrase when you're taking him out like"lets go outside" or "lets go potty". after awhile he'll get the hang of it and start going to the door before you do when he has to go but it's miserable in the beginning. goodluck.
