I’m just finishing college and I was thinking about getting a puppy to occupy my now free time. I will be living with my family once again but only for a short time. The environment there is noisy and a little crazy. It is a large house with a fenced in backyard. There are other dogs, cats and kids. I do travel from time to time and I also have a cat of my own. I don’t mind if the breed is large or small. I do however have a softer spot for the medium haired dogs. I have been looking at breeds but I can't decide what would be good, in the living environment that I have. What would you recommend?

I am buying a puppy, and there's one I like but it has floppy ears...she's two months old, and this is important as I do plan on breeding her in the future. Anyone out there has lots of experience with the breed and knows if they should be erect by now? I haven't seen any other pom puppies like this...people selling it say they will stand eventually, but then, they are just breeding from their pet dog, they are not professional breeders

My puppy is 12 weeks old and she is pooping liquids. I just took her to the vet to get her shots on Saturday, is that why she is sick? What can I do at home to help her feel better and get better? I'm trying to stay from the vet bill if possible.

I think I'm about to get the horrible news that my dog has cancer. I know so much depends on how serious it is, but are there any suggestions on how to deal with this and make the battle less painful. I'm not sure I'd want to put her through a bunch of chemo. She is young and healthy....an Aussie Sheppard mix.

I've been trying to teach my dog this trick, however he can't stay still long enough for me to put the treat on his nose for even a millisecond. He follows my hand and moves his head back every time. And since he has no idea what I want him to do he does every other trick he knows in the process.

Does anyone have any tips?

The puppy is following him everywhere, playing with him. I separate them periodically so my big boy can get some space, but he still seems sad. Am I imagining things? What can I do to cheer up my older dog?

ive had a dog for about 2 and 3/4 years and i just got a new puppy yesterday [my bday was yesterday]. she is a chocolate brown 2lb long haired chihuahua named mocha and shes about 10 weeks old. she can be a bit on the hyper side but she can also be really calm. last night she woke me up at around 5am and it took me about an hour to get her back to sleep. i have known her since she was about 3 days old [my friend breeds chihuahuas] and they had 12 dogs with them with all the puppies from this litter and the last so is it a bit natural for her to be hyper from being around all those dogs?

What is the best shampoo for dogs? I just got a dog for my son and I was extremely hesitant because he is an inside dog and I do not want my house to smell like a dog, so what is the best brand to keep the smell away as much as possible?

I got my maltese about three months ago, hes great!! I love him to death! But im having some problems potty training him. He knows where to go and he know if he goes in the house hes in trouble. But he still has an accident atleast once a day in the house. I think i have tried everything!! Also another thing he does is he goes right in front of the door. I have taken him in the yard and let him go but then when i let him out and im not outside with him he goes right on the porch. Other than this he's a great dog and im so happy to have him. Someone please help and give me some good tips on my maltese.

I have to move in a couple of months to a place where I can not bring my dog that I have raised since 6 weeks old. This is tearing me apart. I love my dog, she is a member of my family. I want to find a nice, loving home for her, but do not know how to go about it. This is really, really difficult...she is a 4 year old Chinese Shar-Pei...she's beautiful.

If anyone can suggest anything helpful on this, I would appreciate it greatly. I am at my wit's end...I am all she knows. Please help.

I have a six year old female boxer. She is becoming very aggressive towards strangers. She goes nuts if she is outside and some one else is on the other side of the fence. She is okay with people she knows just hyper and wanting attention. But she is starting to scare me with neighborhood kids and my son's friends. I don't know what to do about it but I am afraid she is going to bite someone. She nipped my cousin yesterterday and he bled.

I think that Foxy, my Shiba Inu, has the runs. Over the past two days I noticed her stools becoming loose and this morning they were very watery! Something tells me that it may have been something she ate. She doesnt have a fever and her energy is still the same. So should I take her to the vet? Also, are there any reccomendations as to what to do to help ease it and have her system go back to normal? Please help. Thanks!

The dog on the corner barks at anyone and everything. My dog barks as soon as he hears it and he is much louder! We have had complaints from other neighbours about our dog barking but feel its not our fault. We have spoken to owners of the other dog but to no avail. Its driving me nuts!!
