Dogs - March 2007

Shadow is a lab/ cocker spanial mix. she will be 10 in may. For the past week she has been acting very strange. She is panting all the time, doesn't sleep at night, not eating that much. We took her to the vet saturday and he said everything sounded normal, but her her on amoxacillain for 10 days. We are having a hard time getting her to even take the pills. She loves cheese and wont even eat that when we try to give it to her. she also keeps just standing or laying in a corner facing the wall and doesn't want to move? what does this mean?

I sold someone a puppy and she said he was doing really good with housebreaking but then he started going to the bathroom in the house a lot.
she has had him for about a month.
she said he is being taken outside every 30 minutes and he will go outside and then come in and crap on the floor. he is being rewarded for going outside but still goes inside.
I don't want to have to take this dog back, please help with some suggestions!!!!! Thank you!!!!

I have a mixed breed dog which is part sharpee, part pitbull, and part lab. The dog has black colorings on his tongue. Someone told me that means he is part Chow. Is that true? Is that feature particular only to Chows?

I have a 6 week old St. Bernard/German Shepherd mix and I was wondering if I should start training it soon. We're working on Potty training it but I was wondering if it was too soon to start with other things. (Like sitting, walking on a leash, shaking hands, ect.) Does any body know if it's too soon to start with anything else or not?

My girlfriend has 2 yes 2 chuiuaua's that always bark whenever I comeover. I try to be nice and lead my hand out so it can sniff my hand and I try to be very ncie to them, but it just gets more and more vicisous and barks more. Could it be the fact I have a dog and it might be that or she might be babying too much when they bark out of fear.

Last night, I was walking my dog in our new neigborhood. The corner house has five big dogs tied in the unfenced backyard. While we were rounding the corner, one of the dogs broke off it's chain and rushed at us. This dog is big, and mine isn't, so I picked mine up just in case. Luckily, this dog just wanted to get a closer look at us before running back home.

I now know not to round that corner anymore. But it made me think that if a mean dog was rushing at me (with or without my dog), I have no idea how to respond. Should I freeze? Run? Which actions would be least likely to antagonize the dog further and get myself hurt?

i wanted to start breeding one the these three dogs dobermans,austrailan sheperds or boxers i have never raised dogs before, but i do have lots of experience in dogs. i have had dogs all my life mosily mutts people dumped on the side of the road. right now i have a sheperd mix he is around 6 months old, but i would like to raise purebreeds. which breed of dog do you think would be the best for me. i would also like to know what your opinion is for each dog.

Do dogs get stuck only when the male ejaculates? My two dogs have been mating, but, I dont think they've been stuck yet. So, I'm wondering if she could still be pregnant. Our other dog (puppy) has curious and has been inturupting them from getting to far. So, the question is can the female get pregnant if the two of them don't get stuck together???????????
