Everytime I go to the local petstore I see the cutest and most adorable puppies and kittens. Yet for some reason the little dogs cost hundreds of dollars, whereas the kittens sometimes only cost as little as 20 or 25 dollars and the thing is their just as cute as the puppies. What's the reason for the huge cost difference?

My female dog was in heat and there was a male dog around while she was outside. He managed to get on her leg but I never actually saw him get in the right spot that I know of. Since their few encounters together he has not come back and she has stopped bleeding. Is that a sign that she could be pregnant?

When ever my dog walks past out VCR, he always has to put his nose inside of it. Could it be that he has OCD or something, because this happens EVERY time he walks past it!?

ok... this girl Jessica R just answered my question, with a link. She said it would answer my question but it was just to some love match making website. I seen this answer on other questions. Does anyone know why she is spamming us, and how to get her off Yahoo?

I have a 2 year old golden retriever mix and he chews everything. He chewed two boards off the siding of my house and removed all the installation. I don't know what to do any more. He is my son's dog and I don't want to get rid of him. I have a fenced in back yard for him to run around in. He even dug holes around my gas meter so I had to block it off. He chewed my bed spread, shirt, and my son's game cude game. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get him out of this habit?

We all know how wonderful cats are at covering up
their business in the garden.
We have 2 dogs, a lab who doesn't care much
where she does it, and a kelpie cross who first
takes a little time to find the right spot, and when
finished, shows that he must have some vestigial
remnant in his brain that he must do the right
thing, by kicking back a little dirt, as if to cover his
business, but never succeeds as it's just a fleeting
response. We got him as a pup, so he's never
been taught to do this. I was amazed when I first
saw this. Is he part cat, I thought?
My questions are "Would it be feasible to try and
breed this excellent quality into dogs?" and
"Has it been tried?"
I'm sure it can be taught, but that would be a lot of
work for dog owners. I know dogs are bred for all
sorts of things, so maybe this is possible.
I guess a possible downside would be for the
manufacturers of pooper-scoopers!

If you have never been around a pitbull or no nothing about them then don't bother answering because i dont want uneducated or answers based soley on what u hear in the media. I'm asking people who own, breed, or spend lots of time around pitbulls and know their true personality. Please don't judge the dog based on his appearance or its breeds reputation.

My dog was in the bush all day saturday, and when we got back he was begging at me, so I gave him a pet and i noticed his eyebrow was very sticky and and hard. i tried to wash it with a face cloth, to get it wet, and then i brushed it with a thin brush. Its monday, and it is still there. i can't just rip it out because it would hurt him way to much, and i don't want to cut it because it will look bad, and it will take a while to grow back, and plus its too close to his eye. its stuck on his eye brow hair, not just his eye lashes. Hes a sheltie also... thanks in advance

today i got offered a good job, 13dollars an hour and only pay 10% of insurance, which is good. however, the job is at an animal shelter and occassionally, i would have to euthanize an animal if they were deemed to be unadoptable. this would be a big issue for me but i see it as something that would be done whether or not i work there. can anyone share their opinions on this?

My dog is old, she is about 11 years old. I usually mix in treats with her dog food, and she eats it up. But recently I started mixing in this powder called The Missing Link, for her bone and joints, and she never ate it. So I stopped mixing it in. But for some reason she still won't eat it, but she will eat her treats or anything else but that. What can I do, or is she ill? Or is it from old age? Does loss of appetite a sign of her time is coming?

-_-* Since my dog (husky/chow mix) was a pup, my bro liked to scare the Hell out of him... Now, Steele's afraid of people... He's not a fear biter or anything, but sometimes it'll get so bad, he'll urinate if someone tries to pet him... From now on, I'm just going to tell people not to approach him, and let him get used to being around people without them all throwing their hands on him.... But what am I going to do about my brother? He's 17 nd should be old enough to know not to act stupid, but, no he still feels the need to irritate Steele by scaring him, stomping at him, chasing him, etc. Steele is scared of him, but when my bro walks away from him, Steele will follow him, and if he runs, Steele will chase him. But he'll never go close enough to him. Sometimes Steele will play with him or let my bro pet him, and just when I'm thiking things are turning around, Matt goes and scares him again! -_- Steele's never gonna get used to him...

My pup is a 7 month old yorkie and she is very dominating. I am in the process of fixing that and establishing myself as the Alpha Dog, we will be attending obediance classes soon. I worked with her to sit, but if she sits and I dont give her a treat, she nips at my fingers!! Its like she is getting mad that i didnt give her food. Is it likely that she is rebelling because I am trying to dominate her? She has become really snappy since I have been working with her. Is this normal? I want a calm submissive dog. She also is very nippy towards my lil sis who is 2 and my lil bro who is 4. They are nice to her and she still bites them all of a sudden. And also she has been really weird like she is really skiddish. Is this a normal part of the training? Can you refer any good trainers??
