You don't need to shave the dog unless it starts getting hot spots. These are sores that come from the dog getting too hot. I had a cocker spaniel that got them, but I never heard of a wolf hybrid with them. Your dog's coat will insulate it from the heat so you don't need to shave it.

Maybe you could buy a plastic kiddie pool and put it in the shade to keep the water cool. My dogs love this, and one actually lays down in it for a while. Also you might need to brush your dog every couple of days while it blows its coat.

i live in australia and we have a really hot summer. i have a husky dog and i was going to get her shaved for the summer but her fur wont grow back the same... the husky coat is like an insulation keeping them warm in cold and cooler in hot weather. this is the beauty of the husky coat... however they are very sensitive to heat so the best thing you can do is make sure yours has plenty of clean fresh water... and shady areas.. i found that the easiet way to cool down my girl was to put ice cubes in her water and i freeze all different kinds of meat and feed them to her she will spend ages chewing it and cooling her body temp down.. also lying cool damp towel or blanket on the ground for it to sleep on... just keep her as cool as you can but i really suggest don't shave it... (all these things were recomended to me by a vet and it has helped my baby survive the hot aussie summer) goodluck

No please don't do that. The fur also insulates them from the heat too and exposing your dog to the sun's ray's will be much more harmful. The skin will dry out horribly and will cause skin issues and the bugs will really bother him.
Just make sure he is kept cool and get him a kiddy pool for him to just lay in when it's very hot. You can just keep him inside with the air conditioning to make sure he doesn't have heat related problems. Make sure he has plenty of cool water to drink. You can freeze a large block of ice then but it in his water bowl to keep the water cool. Keep hi out of direct sunlight under shade.

You could get him a tummy cut, it only shaves his underbelly, but that's it.

there is a reason why dogs have hair. wet the dog down a few times a day. dogs have a way of shedding off hair when they don't need it and they also have their own way of sweating. Have you thought of what your dog would look like especially a husky/wolf mix? people will think your dog is abused... Sorry just thinking of the dog!!!!!!!

Do not shave the dog. It is there for a reason. Make sure it has shade and plenty of cool water and it will do fine.
