We tried buying our dog dental bones, but he always just hides it.

We got a beef-flavored toothpaste from HARTZ but it doesnt seem to work well on actually keeping our dogs teeth healthy. Is there a toothpaste for dogs that is strictly based on keeping the dogs teeth healthy and clean?

Any of the dental toothpaste for dogs are fine.
Some smell better than other but it is really up to your dog which one he prefers.
Do not use human toothpastes as it has high levels of sodium in it and unlike humans dogs cannot spit it out. Sorry if you already knew that.
But good on you for attempting to clean your dogs teeth. If done regularly you will save the health of your dogs teeth later on in life and help his organs out like the Kidneys

There really is no best - the best one is the one your dog likes. I've always used mint flavour for my dogs. Last time I bought toothpaste I got a different kind and all 3 of them are trying to get away from the toothpaste, so I'm assuming they just hate the taste. So - whichever one your dog likes.

Yeah, I also use dentabones. They are much easier than brushing their teeth (trust me I know) and you don't need to use them everyday.

I went to the vet and was shown the build up on my dogs teeth. I was recommended dentabones and the difference in my dogs teeth is incredible. They really act to remove the stuck on grime on their teeth.
