I am out of the house between 07:30 and 14:00 monday, 07:30 and 17:30 tuesday - thursday, and home all day friday to sunday. I also have 2 cats wandering about the house. I could keep the dog outside during the day as I have a large fenced yard. In the family there is me and my husband, and our 14yo son. Would this be fair on the dog or is there a more suitable breed for my situation?

I have a lakeland Terrier shes 8 and a half weeks old. The breeder gave me some worming powder which she doesnt mind but wont eat the whole bowl with it in? Should I add more to the next meal. Also regarding flea control I have been recomended to do some but it seems they are all for puppies over 2kg which mine is just under. What should I do?

I have a female boxer that is about 8 months old. Is it possible that I could have missed her first heat? Or would it have been obvious?

I have two dogs - a Bullmastiff and an American Bulldog. Both of which are just over a year old. The Bullmastiff has established himself as the 'Alpha Male', which I don't mind. However, the Bullmastiff licks the A. Bulldog's penis almost obsessively. I constantly have to tell him to stop (they are both boy dogs) The A. Bulldog doesn't seem to mind, but I do.

I know there are going to be a few ******* that find this to be funny and give crappy answers, but if there is anyone that could explain why he's doing this and what I can do to stop it, it would be greatly appreciated.

So I have wanted to get a dog for a while now but have only really thought about it now. I am not sure whether I should get one or not in my position.

I am 26 and have a 4 year old son. I am working Mon-Fri, 10am-6pm (coming home at 1:30pm for lunch) and get a strady income. I'm living in my own apartment with my son and are doing well. It's a two bedroom apartment but it's fairly spacious. I'm on the first floor so have access to a grassy backyard.

I really want a dog for the support and love it offers. I also need one to kick me to exerice more often as am overweight. I don't care about shedding but professional grooming is a no. No small dogs, no long fur. Must be good with dogs, cats and children. Playful, active and affectionate. One that won't mind my son and his cousins (aged between 2 and 12) or my friends children (aged between 1 and 6) playing with it.

Any advice or breed suggestions would be great!

My dog is so good off lead, he comes on recall every time despite joggers, kids, lawnmowers etc being in the park. The only time he ignores my recalls and leave command is when he sees horses poo, sometimes he will eat it, other times he will roll in it. I want to stop both of these things, but mainly the rolling in it. Can anyone suggest anything that might help? I always have a selection of treats with me and his fav toy, but they don't work once he gets a whiff of that. If I see it, I put him on lead, until we are well away from it, but sometimes I forget as it stays there for days on end. thanks

I've yelped, stopped playing turned, away from him said no and even put him out of the room for a while if he's persistant. He's going to puppy classes. He can sit, stand, down ,stay and walk on a loose lead. However there are times when he simply refuses to do anything I ask desipte the offer of rewards. He only gets treats if he's earned them, he's fed after us , doesn't get on furniture or into our bedrooms so I don't know what else to try. Today we were out and he played off lead came back well etc. Then when I eventually put him on lead he began jumping around , boiting the lead and nipping my legs. I stood quite still , told him to leave and only moved once he settled down. But each time I took a step he started carrying on again. Eventually he bit my hand really hard. He only calmed down when he saw another dog in the distance which distracted his attention . How should I deal with him? How do I get him to respond to commands EVERY time and not just when he feels like it?

Here we go again, a dog attacks another dog, and it was a pug attacked by a rotti! ( In New Hampshire yesterday). I happen to love rottis. Does anyone agree we need to start holding the owners more accountable for letting dogs run, possibly untrained, than blaming specific breeds of dog? Would it have made the news if it were the other way around?

hi! i recently moved into a studio apartment. i left my two dogs, a chihuahua and a great dane at my parents' house and i'm already missing them. so now i'm thinking about getting a new dog. please help me decide on a small probably toy dog that is relatively clean, does not bark a lot and has a sweet, calm personality. i'm thinking about a toy poodle, shih-tzu, or a pomeranian but i don't know their personalities and i hope you can help me with that. other suggestions for a dog would be greatly appreciated too. thanks!

My 7 month old labrador pup is limping in his right front leg. He is able to put some weight on it but takes the weight off quicker in the right leg than in the left. I've felt through the paw and there's nothing stuck in there at all, no cuts or abrasions but he is sensitive when I touch it (recoils the paw and flinches it briefly). There's no noticable heat or swelling coming from the joints in the affected leg and he doesnt appear to be in pain. It came on suddenly in the evening last night after dog training.

Any ideas? If it doesnt get better in the next 24 hr I will take him to the vet.
