As a general rule of thumb 8wks is considered the norm. But having been looking into getting an addition to my family most family bred hand raised pups I've found like to wait it out another 2wks just for the safety of the pet. And of course first shots and worming are included. The main concern should always be whats best for th pup.

Yes, it is safe to remove puppies from their mother once they are 6-8 weeks old, 8 weeks being the better choice.

8 weeks old is a good time to leave mum unless they are a small breed. Small breeds shouldn't leave mum until they are 12-16 weeks old as they mature much slower. Also, only release them if they have been thoroughly vet checked, had their first vaccination, wormed and given flea prevention.

I live in the state of Maryland and the legal age is 8 weeks. It may vary. I know in some areas it is even 9 weeks of age.

I think as long as they can eat solid foods it will be okay to take them.
when you do take the pup it will "cry" for awhile but it will soon get used to it. dont let that discourage you.

8 weeks is the perfect age PROVIDED that you have been feeding them dry kibble for the past two weeks and provided that you have socialized them well
