I have had her about six weeks and as long as I am very attentive and take her out she is good to potty outside. But she does not indicate when she need to go outside if I am not watching her. Am I expecting too much too soon? I always offer much praise when she potties successfully outside and I only try to interrupt her if I catch her pottying inside without scolding her.

What can I do to stop her from going to the bathroom inside of the house? I never actually catch her doing this. She is being very sneaky about it. But, sometimes I find she has already gone to the bathroom inside of the house and THEN asks to go out.

My girlfriend's pet dog always barks at me. He even lunged at me the other day, as if he were threatening to bite me. He doesn't like many people at all- he even barks at my girlfriend's parents when she isn't around!

How can I train this dog to like me? Or, can I trick him into liking me by using treats or food?

What is a humane and compassionate way to get him to start liking me, and to stop barking at me?

If this helps explain his behavior, please keep in mind that this dog used to live with just my girlfriend in her own house, and he didn't know anyone else until years later, when she moved back in with her folks. He seems to mistrust and oppose other people.

For reasons of a question, I had to form it like I was clueless. Here is the scenario:

I have a 5 year old Siberian Husky Male, and have recently taken in a 1 year old Black Lab Male as a stray. The new lab is very healthy and has gotten all the necessary shots. He has a great temperment and shows no signs of aggression. My Siberian Husky has always been an easy going dog, very un-husky like... very relaxed, and extremely obiendent.

The first two days of the Labs arrival were perfect. They both played together, layed together and even did not bother one another while they eat or drank. Out of the blue, my Husky started attacking the Lab. The husky has grown up with other dogs (another husky female 8 years old and a yellow lab 3 years old but both live in another house now). Since this fight, my husky has not let the lab go anywhere near him without putting up a fight. I scold him with a firm "no" and he knows he is doing bad.... however it has not gotten any better.

He has been such a joy to us and is still eating, but sleeps most of the day. We can no longer groom him, because he gets too traumatized. He has been on antibiotics on and off the last year for gum disease and needs to have his teeth cleaned. He does not like to ride in our car and loses his bowel control when we take him in the car. He seems happy to see us, but his head bangs down loudly on the floor, like he has lost his muscle in his neck. He has a terrible smell, like something rotting. It is very difficult for him to pull his back end up from a laying position, but once he is up, he seems to be fine. My husband does not think we should have him put to sleep, but I do. I think he has a terrible life, but my husband, who is very close to him, says he wants his death to be natural and that he is still very happy, so we shouldn't put him to sleep. My husband did actually agree with me a few days ago when he started losing his bowel control.

He's a 30lb. Rott. puppy and I'd love to take him for a walk but right now it's almost impossible for me to control him when he gets excited. My husband is usually the one who takes him now. Help!?

I am not worried about grooming and I will give the dog as much exercise as it needs as I need to train a lot because I am a dedicated swimmer. I would like a sociable dog with high intelligence and preferably easily trained.

Like say you have someone messin with you and you want to scare them, are you able to teach your dog to do that like maybe chase them but not hurt them? and if so how?

Not injured, vet suspects arthritus but has happened very quickly. Is there any hope? I love him too much to leave him like this. Yours hopefully Pennie & Bruiser Bear

Me and my husband are avid hikers and backpackers. We already had 2 dogs that are over a yr that we take with us but recently a stray puppy probably about 10 weeks old but very energetic was dumped on lawn so now we have 3 dogs. Our favorite local hike is about 5 miles long with about 2 of it on a decent slope and 1.5 on a decent slope down. Is she too young for this or could we take her. She is very hyper so I think she could go and I want to start exposing her to this since we will be doing it a lot.

He sleeps in our bedroom (with door closed) and constantly whines and cries. We let him out to pee -- sometimes he goes, sometimes not - but the whining continues. Maybe he wants to be able to roam the house? He is housetrained and is left to roam the house when we go out. Any ideas?
