Okay. I have a 2 year old Jack Russell terrier. Normally to my family, I, the 10-year-old, am the dog expert. But I really need help with this. My other dog, Sadie, a Great Dane, gets along great with Chandler. Ok. My dogs never bark when people come over. But when my mom's boyfriend came over, my dogs barked and whined, and barked. Is it true, like you may have heard before, that my dogs know something bad about this dude's past? Please help!

apartment (4 teeny rooms), in a 4 apartment "Quadraplex". I have no "yard". BUT I live on a beautiful campus in the country. I walk an hour a day or more. I work VERY close to home, (could pop over and take dog for potty break a couple times) and I go home for lunch hour almost every day. I spend most evenings at home, and my inside animals receive lots of attention, love, and interaction. I want a smaller dog (I feel bad that my place is so small), but (no offense to anyone or their pets) I don't care for the personalities of the toy dogs. I'm more of a labarador kinda person. I was thinking a compromise would be a Sheltie. They're beautiful, intelligent, and I a survey said that they would be a good choice for me. I know they're barkers, can they be taught to keep quieter? What should I know about shelties? My place is SOO small! (However, It is POSSIBLE I could set up a line run amongst trees outside. Don't think it would be much more room than inside the house. Advice? Wait?

I got her when she was 1.5 months old. She was quite calm in the beginning and I've been keeping up-to-date with Dog Traning advice online to keep her that way. However, recently she has become very aggressive and wants to chase after me biting my feet or hands. Even when I pet her lovingly she wants to bite down hard on my hand or arm.
If I show her my finger and say 'no', she barks real loud. Previously, distracting her usually worked and she would forget all about it, but recently, she no longer gets distracted and only wants to bite.
I have reached my wits' end with her and really love her - but cannot take her biting me all the time.
Please help!

Should I get a Papillon, Pomeranian or both when I'm older?

I am aware of the cost of one dog, but how much money a week would need to be spend on 2 dogs; one being a male neutred papillon and the other being a spayed female pomeranian.

My chi's is 5 months old and her ears aren't completely up yet. Breeder told me to tape her ears with Nexcare tape. I've done it twice but my chi keeps scratching to get it off and so wind up taking the tape off. I really want her ears to stand up (thinking about showing her) but I don't want her to be tormented, you know? Any suggestions?

My dog has had a persistent vomitting problem over the last five months that is trigerred once it has had water ? It has its food mainly rice and milk around 1pm every afternoon. Its play timings are between 4 to 6 pm every day. Invariably once it sets about walking and moving in the afternoons it feels thirsty and usually whenever it has water around this time it vomits throwing out the food it has had four or five hours earlier in the day. Having vomitted, it occasionally vomits again if it drinks water a second time too ? Anti-biotics, and anti-reflux medicines like Metoclopramide have helped at times but temporarily. Please help.

When we brought her home we fed her pedigree puppy food. She never ate very much of it and then she discoverd my 7 yr old Yorkie's dish. We feed him Kibbles n Bits and she loves it. She would not eat her food after that and always ran to his dish. So two days ago I started feeding her Kibbles n Bits (original) and now she has diarrhea. Will her stomach eventually adjust to the food or should I put her on puppy food? Also is it ok to give her Pepto Bismol? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

I have 2 large dogs. Both are just over a yr old & one of them carry's anything around the yard & when I say anything I mean anything, she carries large logs, cinder blocks and has been seen even dragging the garbage can around the yard. The problem is with her water bowl. We have tried many different kinds plastic, plastic wash basins, stainless steel, & even 10 gallon buckets. She will dump the water out chew it if she can and then carry it around the yard like a toy {and she has MANY toys in the yard &is played with & exercised daily}. I have put a cinder block into the plastic water dishes tryin to stop her but some how she gets them out.We have tried automatic waters also same thing happens. She use to do it with her feeder until we put 3 cinder blocks ontop of it {it holds 20 pounds of food} & there are times she will still on occassion knock those blocks off. Any idea's what we can use as a water bowl that can stay outside because I will NOT go out every few hrs to take her water

We just adopted two Shepard/Rott mixes from the Animal Shelter, a boy (but he looks like he has Border Collie in him) and a girl. Would love some tips on how often/long we should exercise them everyday. We live on a military base and I don't believe this small town has a dog park. On base we can't let them off the leashes when walking/playing with them (unless in backyard).

TIA

Show quality great dane,a perfect solid black male with white white stripes on the undersides of his feet (100% permissable as far as AKC standard goes, which is who he's registered with).

I posted about him a bit ago. His tail was broken by a sliding glass door and healed crooked. This wouldn't cause a disqualification, but as we all guessed,it would dock some points.

This dog is champion material. His health is exceptional and I recently found out he won first place in a puppy 'mockup' (local) dog show.

A vet suggested I re-break the tail and set it straight. They'd do it under anesthia so there'd be no pain,of course.

...I can't decide. He's almost two, big, happy, and goofy just like a dane should be. I intend to breed anyway,so it's not as if I'm worried about that. ...but I can't decide with him. Should I do it? Should I not? As I said: He's champion material. It seems like such a loss to the dog world. ...but I'm worried about any pain he'd have,too...

I know that a small dog takes under 22 lbs 0.16 ml
a large dog 89 to 32 lbs takes 4.02 ml
What would a medium dog 23 lbs to 50 lbs take?

I am out of the house between 07:30 and 14:00 monday, 07:30 and 17:30 tuesday - thursday, and home all day friday to sunday. I also have 2 cats wandering about the house. I could keep the dog outside during the day as I have a large fenced yard. In the family there is me and my husband, and our 14yo son. Would this be fair on the dog or is there a more suitable breed for my situation? My yard is at the back of the house so therefore away from road and out of view of public. I also live in a quite rural area on the edge of a small village

I have a wonderful JRT named Chance, whom is loved by everyone he comes in contact with. He is well temepered and very sweet natured. My sister is seeking a puppy from Chances' blood-line. We've waited for several years now (Chance is 2, almost 3) and we finally got a call about a one year old, female JRT, that is related to Chance. The owners of Gracie (the new JRT) live on a huge farm and only let the dogs in the house to sleep at night. Gracie is NOT house-trained and all ready a year old. How hard would it be to house train her? She's a very loving, sweet and precious dog, who needs a good home and attention that my sister could very well provide. Her owners do not have enough time to spend with her, nor have they ever tried to train her indoors. We're still in deliberation on getting this new pup, so any suggestions or answers will be helpful. Other than the fact that Gracie is not house trained, there are absolutely NO other reasons not to take this puppy home with us!

They raise bull mastiff's and also have a German Shepard. Two of these dogs are totally out of control and have begun killing other animals. The first kill was in December of 06, it was my daughter's pot belly pig, the next they turned on one of their own, an adult female bullmastiff and killed her and most recently, they killed a 1 week old paint colt. I am just sick, I have 4 kids, ages 11 to 4 and am terrified for my kids. I called animal control, they said there is nothing they can do b/c the dogs are killing on their property (with the exception of my daughters pig)... I should have called back then. I am scared for my kids lives, they said they are keeping them locked up and are going to get rid of them, but they also said that once the colt was born they were only gonna let them out one at a time, well two of them killed the colt. Animal control said that I can legally kill them if they are on my property, please help, if they get near my kids , Im afraid it will be tolate
