no the xrays didnt show permanant damage the break was very light and right at the begininning of the growth plate. the vets think she will get better but will have arthritis.she goes for daily walks and runs and plays with the other dogs like no big deal she mainly limps after getting up from a long sleep or laying for a long time she doesnt limp while walking or running. Her last x rays were great and you couldnt even tell where it had been were not even sure how she broke her leg we think jumping off the porch and playing with the older boxers she was about 5 and half months when she broke it.

If the break was at the growth plate, only time will tell if the plate was damaged permanently or not. Did the xrays show probably permanent damage?

We have a 10 year old Boxer who at about 1 year jumped off the top of a car broke his left leg and had the casting as well.
He limped for a little while afterwards and then only now and then. But as years have passed he is once again limping. He uses his three legs a good bit of the time at this point. He gets around just fine though. He climbs the stairs, walks and runs We do keep him on the thin side so he doesn't have the extra weight to carry around. We also exercise him regularly. Just until recently he continued to jog his 3 miles that he always ran.

She may grow out of the limping, it may stay just as it is, or it could even grow worse over time. Chances are, she will grow out of it mostly as the bone sets permanently, but she may have bouts of limping here and there forever. The most important thing to remember is that it should be consistent, and any change should be gradual. If she starts limping any more or less, it should be a slow adjustment. If she is barely limping and then limping a lot the next day, call your vet. These kinds of breaks could be bad, but are easily maintained if the owner keeps up with the meds and knows what to look for.

if the growth plate was damaged then it will no longer grow and ifthats the case she will always have a limp due to that leg being slightly shorter, lucky for here is has the biggest part of her growth be hind her . we had a small dog that broke his (front) and his leg never grew anymore he had a front leg that was 3inches shorter, he always had a limp but he dint mind he could run just as fast as his other doggy friends could

I had a black lab puppy that was similarly injured. Most of the time she walked ok, but as she got older arthritis set in. We also gave her the Gluc & Cond. Our vet eventually put her on Rimadyl which was a big help. She took it for most of her life. When she got older (10yrs) somethimes the Rimadyl wouldn't work and we gave her an asprin a day which helped for awhile. Eventually we put her to sleep because it was causing her pain and we didn't want her to suffer.
My parents raise boxers and they are prone to hip problems. Boxers tend not to live as long as other medium to large sized breeds because they are also prone to cancer. I see lots of hind quarter/hip problems in older boxers - as long as your dog is not in pain and you can get her suppliments she may be ok. When my lab started to limp, that is when we gave her the asprin, and it did help. Typically it was if the weather was very damp. You might check with your vet if the limping is infrequent and see if they reccomend an asprin and/or Rymadl for arthritis pain or swelling. The Rymadl comes in pills or a chewable tablet. My dog usually took it like it was a treat.

Haha, good I could say that briefs are extra cozy as I discover that it will get quite uncomfortable "down there" with boxers. I wish I have helped you on your difficult choice haha.

Yes, the dog will just keep doing what you are doing and give her some milk with her food about 4 times a week. It will make her strong and she will beat some ***.
