I have a lakeland Terrier shes 8 and a half weeks old. The breeder gave me some worming powder which she doesnt mind but wont eat the whole bowl with it in? Should I add more to the next meal. Also regarding flea control I have been recomended to do some but it seems they are all for puppies over 2kg which mine is just under. What should I do?

Google for FrontLine, this is the best Flea treatments and covers various sizes. If you dog is smaller than the smallest available then use that one anyway.

The Worming is very very important.
If you don't worm a puppy properly then you run the risk of illness, infection and death.

If the pup wont eat the food with the powder on, then reduce the amount of food you give her so that all the powder is eaten. Be careful that you don't overdose her as too much can be damaging. Leave her a week or so after the 'half dose', then try her with another dose.

Alternatively, use Worming Tablets. They are much easier to administer and can be more effective.

Remember - a Dog is not just for Christmas, with careful cutting and freezing it should last well into the New Year.

The last bit was a joke by the way.
I don't know if you noticed.
I found it rather droll!

Hi, hopefully your breeder gave you a list of the dates your pup has aready been wormed? With our pups we worm at 4,6,& 8 weeks of age and as long as there is no sign of flea infestation(flea & worm life-cycles are connected) then at 6 months and every 6 months after that. I would be very careful not to overdose her powder amount so if she isn't showing signs of having worms then i wouldn't add any to her next meal, just wait for her next offical dose. Regarding fleas, i am loathe to put chemicals on to my pets without any real need for it, so i would only treat for fleas if they are present. I use a pinch of garlic granules in the food as a natural flea repellent and this is also good for anti-worms! Good luck with your new babe.

Don't worry too much about her eating the worming powder. When you take her to the vet for her injections ask the vet to show you how to pop a tablet in her mouth so your pup wont spit it out again. For fleas and other nasties use Stronghold or other drops that go on the back of the neck - your vet can advise you on this too! GOOD LUCK.

I recommend Panacur paste for puppies. It is a veterinary licensed product also available online:
