Put them within seperate rooms or kennels for now; if they are hurting themselves or whatever is seperating them you might have to consider leaving one with a neighbor a few houses down. The dogs can smell each other which is why your male is freaking out. As well as considering the fact that fixing your pets can relieve this problem. If you decide you might want a litter of puppies later on fix the male and leave the female breeding.

You need to separate the. Completely. At least two doors between them at all times. Better yet, send one of them to a kennel. Trust me on this, I've managed intact females and males for many years.

Better still, get one or both fixed.

Get them neutered and spayed or you will have puppys.
Unless one moves out for the duration of her heat cycles you will have an accident. Dogs are very determined to get at a female in heat.
I know someone whose male wolfhound ripped down a kennel with 6 foot fencing that was burried in concrete to get to he neighbors dog.

That isn't going to be easy. The only thing that worked for us was to gate off them from each other. Good luck!
