I have a 13 yr. old Husky/Akita. I have had him for 12 years and he hardly leaves my side. I cannot express how much he means to me. I think of him as my son (I don't have or want kids) and when I call the vet to make an appointment I refer to myself as Mica's Dad. I just don't feel like I own him. I own a car and a house, but not my boy.(He owns me is more like it). There was a new receptionist working when I last called in and seemed to have an issue with me being his dad. She said " Oh, you mean his OWNER" I didn't feel like explaining so I kept my mouth shut. Do other dog "owners" feel like they are their dogs parent? I mean, he is really a big part of who I am and I imagine thats kind of what parents feel. I worry about him, am proud of him, love his company, love to see him happy-isn't that what it's about ? Maybe the receptionist was just not a dog person.

i take care of my nephew during the day. i knew at first it would be hard because my 10 y/o springer spaniel was used to being the baby, but it's been over a year & she is the same as the 1st day he came over. She used to play with her toys & nap anywhere in the house. Now she only wants the toys my nephew plays with. So only his toys. She won't nap anymore, cause she has to follow us around like she might miss something. She only seems to want extra attention when he is around. If i am feeding him she feels the need to lay her head in my lap & whine so she'll be pet. When he is playing she will purposely walk by & push him with her butt so she can stand where he was playing.
i hate getting mad at her because i know she is just feeling insecure, but it's getting worse everyday. The more i yell the worse she seems to get. i love her so much but i am at my wits end with her antics. How do i help her be less jelaous?

I recently purchased a pomeranian/chihuahua mix. The woman I purchased him from assured me he would weigh no more than 6 pounds. He is already 2 pounds at 10 weeks, is this normal for a toy breed and at what rate do they usually grow?

I have a 7 month old yorkie who is housetraining horribly!!! She shows many many signs of disrespect and, I think, has partially established herself as the alpha dog in the house. I know I need to fix this problem asap. I just wanted to know if establishing myself as the alpha dog over her would help her housebreaking. Will it? Are there any things i should try?

has recently started having problems with "leaking". It has occurred during the day but seems to be mostly at night. She never empties her bladder fully, only small amounts here and there, but on 3 mornings now there has been a significant wet spot underneath her on the bed. I don't need to know that she needs to see a vet, that is a given and I have already made an appointment. What I do need to know is what I can expect from the visit i.e. possible tests, causes, and treatments. This dog is my baby and I just don't want any devestating surprises, I want to be fully prepared for any scenario. Any help would be appreciated!

I plan to switch my Setter to Innova EVO Reduced Fat for seniors dog. She is not overweight but a couple pounds less would be ideal. She will be 8 in September.

I was feeding her Californa Natural and always suplemened it with 1/4 lean cooked meat and vitamins.

This Evo dog food has 52.0% protein whereas California Natural only has 21% protein. So adding more meat with Evo would not be wise, right? Also should I drop the vitamin supplements? Would she be getting too many vitamins with EVO?

Any ideas what I can mix with the kibble to keep my dog happy and not screw up the nutritional balance of this high quality food?
