I was reading in a puppy book that a chin lead will make them submissive when they are be territorial. I have searched the internet and cannot find a chin lead or what it is.

A chin lead, marketed under names such as Gentle Leader, is a nylon collar that goes around the dogs neck, plus over their muzzle,(in a figure 8) attaching to the lead under the dogs chin. So instead of just applying pressure to the dogs neck, it also applies pressure to their muzzle, gently (if used correctly) forcing the dogs head down. It is mostly used to correct jumping and lunging, and can also help the handler regain control of a dog who is a puller. It is much more humane than the "pinch" type collars, you know the chain ones with the spikes on the inside. They are available at Petsmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus. Hope this was helpful.

It is just a leash that is self adjusting that you put right under the dog's chin. He has to hold his head up and cannot move his head around. You can make one with a regular leash just hook the part that goes in the dog's collar loop, around the cord of the leash and make a kind of nose you put over the dog's head. Doggy no like and he will mind after a bit - careful not to choke him.
