I know that whenever you pick a new food that you need to go at least a week with mixing the new food and the old food to phase out the old food.
(from more old food. less new food to begin with and more new food, less old food to end with)

This will help with his stomach and digestion.

You can stick with the Royal Canin food if you would like. I believe that they make one that is formulated specifically for Chi's. Whichever food you decide to swtich to you will want to do it slowly. Start by adding 3/4 of the puppy food and 1/4 of the new food. Over the next week or so, you will want to add more of the new food and less of the puppy until he is completely swtiched over to the new food. By doing it slowly your puppy should not get an upset tummy.

you will need to wean him off the food gradually as in giving half his old food and half new food for a week or so before changing totally. Royal canin or hills also have an adult complete food but i would suggest staying on the puppy one until he is about 11-12 months then changing over to the adult food. This again has all he needs in his adult hood as the puppy one did for when he was growing.

Stick with Royal canine Especially right now don't switch! TOO many contaminated brands out htere! I believe ROYAL CANINE is not included in the recall. It is what I feed my dogs.

I have 2 inside dogs and they really like Science Diet Dry food. You can get it at Petsmart.
