A half cup of cooked white rice will settle her little digestive system.
Soemtimes dogs get the runs when they are stressed and sometimes they get a stomach bug just like people.... not really seriously ill, just don't feel so hot for a day or so and then everything goes back to normal.
Just keep and eye on her and if she seems to have no other symptoms, just give her a bit of rice or half rice and half regular food meals until she's less runny. If she seems lethargic or starts vomiting, bring her to a vet to have her checked out.

Yes, I have plenty of experience with the afore-mentioned problem. I am a dog breeder & own 13 dogs so we occassionally run into the diarrhea problem. I am also a vet-assistant. You can give you dog anti-diarrhea medicine you find from the store; or you can buy the paste or a liquid from your vet (it all has the same active ingredient). I prefer to use the pills for larger dogs and the liquid Immodium for the smaller breeds. For small dogs such as poodles, etc. give only 1/2 pill; medium dogs like cockers (which is what I have) get a whole pill as adults and 1/4 pill as pups up to 10 pounds if that doesn't help I increase the doseage to 1/2 pill for the pups. For large breeds such as my Rotties and my German Shepherds I just give a whole pill. Also diarrhea can be caused by intestinal parasites so you may want to have your vet check a stool sample or you can do a routine (which my vet recommends doing every so often anyways with Pyrantel Pomoate). You can get it from Walmart, any grocery store, farm supply store; etc. It is manufauctured under names such as Nemex, Evict, Happy Jack, etc. Just look for Pyrantel Pomoate in the active ingredient for roundworms. If you aren't sure what type of worms your dog may have go with the Safeguard because it gets Tapeworms, Whipworms, Hookworms, and Roundworms. As a breeder I also know that the pumpkin can very well LOOSEN stools as well as harden them up. If a dog is constipated it will cause them to have mushy stools; if the dog has "pudding poop; large piled up mush" the pumpkin will firm them up but not by much. The bland diet doesn't help if it is intestinal parasites. Hope this helps.

A spoonful on canned plain pumpkin(not pie filling) will firm loose stools up. Too much will make matters worse though. Feed a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice also. If things don't get back to normal in a day or too let the vet have a look. Good luck

Hi,
My 19 week old puppy recently had the same issue. I took him to the vet (for an unrelated reason) and mentioned the potty issue, and she suggested putting him on a bland diet (boiled chicken and rice) for 5 days. We give him the same amount of food daily as we would if he were on his kibble, and the mixture is 4 parts rice to 1 part chicken.
Upside of this diet is the puppy LOVES it and has not had the runs since. (He's happier and so are we!) Downfalls of this diet is that it might be tough to switch him back to dog food. We will gradually introduce his kibble back into his diet in the next couple of days.
Good luck and hope that Foxy feels better!

Have you switched her dog food recently? Alot of dogs will get diarrhea when you switch their food. I have recently switched my 9 week old Chi to Innova Puppy Dry Food from Purina Pro Plan Puppy dry food. And boy did he get the runs for about 2 days...Lol. His stools are hardening up now tho. Did you feed your dog anything that she hasn't ever had? Like, rawhides or those meaty bones that you can find at wal-mart? My parents have 2 dobermans, and they cannot feed them to their dogs because they get the nasty runs that are watery...If it doesn't clear up soon, try calling the vet to see what they recommend...Give her some rice with a little bit of chicken broth...That should harden it up. I wouldn't recommend giving her any Pepto or anything that is for people, because that can hurt the dog.

Oh my God I can't believe someone is telling you to feed a dog milk. It will surely give him the runs. Dogs can't properly digest milk and it is one of the biggest reasons for the runs. I really thought everybody knew that. Don't do it. Is your dog up to date on all shots. I would likely call your vet and let them know and see what they suggest you do. The rice can be a good thing, it is often beneficial. It almost sounds like you know she ate something she shouldn't have. I would check with the vet. When my girls were young and had runs the doctor would always say put them on the "BRAT" diet. I did give it to a friends pup one time and it did clear it up. Bananas-rice-applesauce-toast.

Feed her cooked rice and ground beef twice a day and see if that helps.

Try Pedialyte (sp) that you give children when they have diarrhea.
Just get the plain, clear solution. It's a little salty, but it will get their electrolytes back where it needs to be.

Another cause of loose stools is worms.
If you are sure that worms are not the cause, try some canned pumpkin .
