I got a puppy and have some questions

1. Is it true that a mixed breed dog cannot be trained or is difficult to train?


2. How do I get the dog to poop in the sand box I provided and not all over the place.?

i want to buy a small puppy that doesnt grow big, only about 12 lbs or less as an adult!! im thinking a shih tzu would be the best since they're so cute as a baby! is there any better breeds that are very small too? and if i do get a shih tzu, should i get a male or female?

He is very protective over me and whenever my husband gets near me he trys to bite him. I bought him when he was 6 wks old when me and my husband had first started dating. My daughter and myself have babied him more than anyone. He only weighs 3.5 lbs but he trys to bite everyone that comes over. I could never get rid of him because he is like family. My husband and stepdaughter hate him. What can I do to get him out of biting?

my puppy normaly scarfs down her food and doesn't take that much water. for the past two days she hasn't wanted any food and has been drinking tons of water. she seems really sad too she hasn't wanted to play very much and shes been really tired i don't know whats wrong and im really worried!! help!!

My dog had pups about 3 months ago and is in heat , I have 2 male dogs, one is her pup. She is in heat and I am worried that she will get pregnant too soon after her first litter so I been putting old pantyhose pantie part on her , but not sure its full proof., so I will buy some pull ups. Any suggestions? Cant afford spaying yet, but am saving for it. Thanks so much!!

i got my dog about 3months ago from a shleter in l.a.he has all shots and has been neutured,he has been biting my husband and I,continuosly for 3 months and he is begginning to worry me.he causes us to be angry and scared on a daily bases from all the agression.i get him the best food,clothes,collars,walk him etc and this still goes on.he is 3 years old,hes had a seizure once i think cause of chasing the light.he is healthy otherwise,but i don't underatnd why this is happening.is it because he is a scotty,terrier mix???i do not know but my husband and i have both been very patient and stern.this seems to happen at night alot mostly,anyone he will attack that comes through the door,im worried cause what if he gets out somehow one day and he attacks someone then id be liable,i love my baby but its stressing me out,what should i do???

I have a yellow lab that has a raw looking sore on her neck,i dont belive it has anything to do with her collar, she has had this once before and i changed collars but it came back about 8 mounths later is it a skin disorder and if so what can be done.It also has a bad order too.When she goes out side the first thing she does is roll on the ground,She remains very happy even with this,but i dont belive this is nomal.Can you help?

I have a year-old husky/german shepherd mix that we've adopted a few days ago from our local shelter. Yesterday and this morning, my boyfriend fed some onion to her, as he found out she seemed to enjoy it. I just read on a few dog-related sites about onion poisonning and how dangerous it is to feed onions to dogs. I don`t know exactly how much she ate, probablly around half of an onion in two days. Should I take her to see a vet? She didn`t show any poisonning symptoms or any digestion-related problems but I read that those may occur a few days after the dog has eaten onion.

Hi. I have a 3 1/2 month old female lab puppy. EVERY time after our almost 2 hour playtime of playing fetch, running around, etc., when I tell her to get out of an ant bed or do something like go in her house, she will bite me. These bites ALWAYS draw blood and are leaving nasty scars on my wrists and hands. My mom says that "She's just a puppy and she's playing." But I don't believe her because the bites hurt and I have tried everything. Is she being aggressive? And a boy at a school told me to just get rid of her because "You SUCK with dogs." I'm mad, sad, confused and upset. Please help.

I have a japanese Chin, he's 2 yrs old and a sweetheart. He, like most dogs, loves being rubbed. I like to see him happy so I rub him! When I rub his tummy/chest he'll make a low noise that sounds like purrring, He scts like he enjoys this love fest and has never actuately growled or showed any other acts that would indicate that he is unhappy. He only makes this sound, which sounds like purring. help! Patricia

She has alot of mucus discharge and seems to be having contractions, but they are far apart. She isn't pushing yet and seems relaxed. I am still worried she has been doing this for a good 13 hours. Is this normal? How long can labor last until the first pup is delieverd? Please do not tell me to rush her to the vet. My vet is on call all night and he said everything is fine, but am still worried. Can someone give me a few answers and help me out? Thanks.

duke: maltese
plush: HUGE golden!
mimi: 8 day old yorkie
foda: golden
sophie: found in street
mon: sophie's sister (found together)
my question is, how can they survive together, they wont fight? can they kill the baby? (mimi) as for the baby she was rescued, how can they take care of her?..she was rescued from a shelter.. ellie the golden retriever is trying to act like her mother but she hurt mimi once trying to keep her away from the other dogs by almost sitting on top of her..help?

My dog has been professionally trained. We have never had a problem with her leaving but this past week she's been running off quite a bit. After one of the times she ran off she came back with no collar. We are not sure why this is. I have been walking her regularly, she has just all the sudden become extremely restless. We have kept her outside only under supervision but somehow today she got away. She doesn't have tags on, just a spare collar we had. PLEASE HELP US!!! God bless.
