Take the body to the vet to cremate.
Let yourself cry. Then let yourself move on. Get a puppy, or a kitten--something else that you can love. The circle of life will continue. I'm sure your dog lived a very happy and full life. Hold on to that knowledge.
I'm sorry. I know it hurts. :' (

Give yourself a little time and go to the shelter and adopt another dog. Your dog would want you to give all the love to another dog that you gave him Or her. It will help with the loss and you will be helping a dog in dire need of you. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my lab maggie Aug. 1 2005 and I still can't think of her with out that bittersweet heartache. She was my best friend and I loved her like a child so I know how you feel. I now have five dogs and even though I miss maggie and wish she could be here having fun with us, I think what would these dogs do if I was not here to love them. They bring me a lot of happiness. I will say a prayer for you tonight and ask god to ease your pain. It took me a long time before I could sleep through the night, trust me get another dog, this will help the pain and you could very well be saving its life. Good luck.

I know it is hard to loose your pet. They are part of the family and a part of your life. The only thing you can do is bury them.
do not have the animal stuffed because it will make you grieve more. And if you got another pet then you wouldn't want the stuffed one around. Best is to bury it , and you can put something as a marker or plant flowers on the grave and that is all the reminder you need. You will have enough good memories.
I know because I have lost pets that I loved and thought that I couldn't love another pet, I did and you can too.
sorry to hear about the loss of your pet.

I know exactly how you feel, as I lost mine after 14 awesome years. He was a bull mastiff ridgeback mix 135 lbs. and the vet could not believe he was so healthy until the end. What I did was have the vet. come to my house, pick up the dog and I had him cremated. I could not bury him, and let him decay in the ground. I went to the vet to pick his ashes up, and where I used to live, we had a beautiful creek behind our house, so I let his ashes go in the water. I did have a permit to do this. When my time is up I will have my body cremated, and my ashes scattered in the ocean. I do not mean to sound morbid, but I just wanted to tell you what I did.. Good Luck. God Bless.

I lost two dogs last year, 6 months apart. One had sinus cancer and the other died from old age. The vet gave them a shot and they peacefully died.
We brought them home and buried them in our backyard. We have a little marker for each on.
I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Losing a beloved family member will take a while to heal. Know that your dog is not suffering anymore and probably chasing critters in doggy heaven.

Okay, well when a pet dies its normal to be very sad! You can cry...you can scream...you can express how you feel! But just remember that the dog will be in your heart and will be in your memories even though memories may make you sad to think of. My hamster died and that was over a year ago...but i still cry! I close my eyes and tell him that i love him and that i hope he lived a good life and that I can't wait to see him when I die!! Just think of good things and have him/her buried and maybe put a gravestone and keep a photo-album of your dog around so you can think of him/her!

I've had many beloved pets die. Each one was mourned and buried in our yard. You can never replace a beloved pet, but our family never seems complete without at least 4 dogs so we generally get another one within a couple of months. I lost a dog in 2005 to old age and one in 2006 to cancer. I still get misty thinking about them.
Always allow yourself to feel.

When Logan Ben died, I cried, told him good bye and then sent his body off to be cremated. He is now sitting on a shelf, in a lovely wooden box, two feet away from me. The plan is when I die, he and I will be sprinkled around Yellowstone National Park, so we can wonder the park together.

the best thing to do when your dog dies is to greive its death but dont let it take over your life. Accept the fact that your dog is gone but dont forget them completly. It helps getting another dog to carry on your previous dogs spirit. Remember do not over react because there are many more things you can do! mabye plant a memory tree or hold a special ceremony for your loss i should know after all my dog died after having her for 14 years. it hurts but it eases the pain to know they are in a better place!!!

I cried for days then went on vacation. I got her cremated and scattered her ashes in her favorite river. We prayed a lot. A few weeks later, we went to "just look" at some puppies and brought one home. An empty house just reminded me of the gap, and the puppy was a nice distraction, but she didn't (and still hasn't) taken the place of our old girl.
