I have 2 staffies both female, one 18 months and one 8 months. Normally they are very loving towards each other but last night they got into a nasty fight. The younger one is currently in season and I am presuming this plays a part in the out of character behavior. Question is whats the best thing to do. I obviously don't want this to happen again, expecially if I am not there to break it up. They appear to be back to normal now but do I split them up until her season has finished???? Please help!

My dad went to hospial, and the dog is very close to him, we thought the dog was pineing for him, he stopped eating for a few days, then we found him in the garden and he couldn't move.
We took him to the vets and they kept him for the weekend, we have been told he has diabetes, they have been giving him injection, but he still cant use his legs.He can fill the vet if he pinches his paw because he screams. So thats a good sign...Isn't it?
What i dont understand is why the dog isn't walking yet ?
Please help me.
I also would like to know what the longtime damage,if any would be; and what we would have to do for the dog for the rest of his life?
Thank you

This is relating to dachshunds. I've read that its impossible for a solid parent and dapple parent to produce a double dapple. Is it at all possible for a puppy to be a dappled piebald? I'm about to purchase a puppy where I KNOW the mother is a solid red and the father was a single dapple but the puppy i'm buying has silver and grey dapple with uneven white markings on her. Any ideas?

Ok, I have a number of dogs in my life. I loved most of them, some more than others. We have a german shepherd. He will be 1 thursday. I am having a birthday party for him. I am making a doggy cake for him and pet cupcakes for our other two dogs and 3 cats. We get people cake, naturally. And we all get a bit of ice cream. And all of us (pets included) have party hats. He gets presents from everyone. Same thing I do for my kids. My husband is miffed. He says I have gone overboard. The party set it off. Jack has his own vest with his name on it. A coat and boots for winter. Baskets of bones and toys. A bed in his crate. I take him with me just about everywhere I go, when he can't he goes to the puppy spa. He eats what I do (just specially made for him, no salt, onions, etc....)This dog is more devoted me to than any person I have met. I wouldn't want that out of another human...Spooky. What is your thoughts? Do you think I have gone overboard as he says?

I'm worried because my dog ate some of the dog food that has been recalled. She seems fine now, but does anybody know if the effects can take place days, weeks, or months later?

He's a cute little 8 week old Pug pup, and I love sleeping with him, but I'm so scared that I am going to roll over on him, that I barely sleep at all when he is in the bed with me. My bf said he would be ok, but between the two of us in the bed, I'm worried. Anybody had any problems sleeping with their pup?

My dog has not stop barking since last night, he is not hurt, I even gave him a warm bath to calm him. He cries like he is sad and stands by the door. We took him for a walk and he stopped barking, but as soon as he is home he barks again. We have had him for about a year now and he never barks unless he needs to go outside to relieve himself. He did hang around my inlaws small female dog, could he be missing her? Can it be the weather? We don't know what to do?

If anyone know, can you teach me?

Well first off, i live in an apartment. and if i am not home then i cant take it outside to "go". and when it rains i dont want my dog to be out in the rain and "go" and etc.

by brining the puppy to the bathtub after it eats and when it wakes up, will it work? because i already know it is hard for akitas to "go" in the house. thus making them easy to housebreak outside. but will the same method work? if i bring it to the bath tub?

please gimme a hand, thanks

He is a cocker around 10 kilos and he had about 3 beef-ox tail bones, they weren't sharp or thin, they were nice thick bones, but now he is whining! I think he has a bellyache but it is 1 at night here and nowhere to take him. Is there something I can do to make him feel better??

Help me brainstorm ideas on how to spoil a dog. Here are some that I've already thought up...

Things you can buy:
-------------------------
Nice comfy dog bed
Rhinestone dog collar
Clothing for your dog
Jewelry for your dog
Get a really big dog house
Gourmet dog treats
Make food from scratch

Things you can do:
-------------------------
Acupuncture for your dog (people do that...)
Massage for your dog
Take it to a groomer
Go to a dog park
Have your portrait taken with your dog
Give it frozen "chicken broth ice cubes" on a hot day

Can you think of some more unique things you can do to spoil your dog? :)

Our town allows dogs in parks only on leash. We are trying to propose modifying the regs to allow dogs off-leash in city parks during limited hours (eg. late night/early morning). Do you have examples where this has been done successfully? Any strategies for winning this battle with city council? thanks!

I had found one several days ago and then I lost it, but I need one that lists ALL the brands! And is it all canned or liquid type of food and not dry? I know that Walmart brand ( Ol' Roy) is on the list for the canned but I have to check all the types I have as I have donated foods due to the fact I do rescues and don't want to take any chances at all. Please help! Thanx so much, Lauren.........ps. Dont forget the cat foods too! thanx again......

He is one years old and HUGE. About 75 lbs. I have a bagless vacuum and I pick up about 6 canisters of hair every other day out of one large room and a hallway. I have tried a shedding blade and a slicker brush....should I have his hair cut really short? Is there another kind of brush to use? And what about his hyper activity? Is it the nature of the breed? I have almost 3 acres so he has plenty of room to roam (and he does...very often.) I am short...5'1 so I dont get into very physical activities with him because he will jump and knock me down. His paws can rest on my shoulders....Any advice?

Just got a 10 week old AKC Boxer pup (female). The breeder says she feeds her twice a day morning and evening. She wouldnt eat her evening food, and we bought the same food the breeder uses. Is it ok that she skps tonights meal?
Should I start crate training her? Is she too young to start house breaking her? Would you recommend puppy pads?
Any other advice on Boxers please and whats a good book for Boxers?

I have a puppy 3-4 months old. She passes gas and it is so gross. How do you stop a dog from passing gas? What causes it? Any ideas? I have another dog and she has never done that and they eat the same thing.
We have only had her for about 3 weeks. I rescued her from a pound. She is just starting to turn her head towards us when she hears the name we gave her but she will not come when we call her or sit when we tell her to sit. It like the lights are on (she looks intellegent) but no one's home. Why doesn't she know anything yet? Keep in mind she was found in a field 02/02/07 and we got her 03/01/07. The pound estimate her age to be 3-4 months. She does have her hearing because she will respond to noise and she is worked with every day.
