We use Frontline or Frontline Plus for our dogs and our Pot Belly Pig. It works quite well actually. Sevin dust is used on the surrounding areas. This does work well even if the animal already has the ticks or fleas. After, the dog is treated it will cause the ticks to die and fall off. We have dogs that run around in the yard and those that are penned. Our problem is mainly ticks along with those horrible tiny ticks that we always called seed ticks. If you animal is extremely covered by ticks it is not a good idea to give them a tick or flea dip. This will cause the body to leave many places where the ticks had been and may cause your dog to be poisoned by the bath or dip. It is absorbed from the many places that the ticks were. We also have a pot belly pig. The vet gave us to go ahead to use the preventative that we use onthe dogs.

The use of seven dust goes way back. Should only be used outside to treat the yard and around perimeter of house. Never on the animal!
Adams is an old, reputable brand sold even at vets. It works well to instantly kill fleas/ticks on contact. Can be used even on pups. They make a shampoo and spray, powder. The "fogger" type spray for use on carpet, bedding and furniture works great if fleas inside the house.
Obviously, products like Advantage and Frontline are the best, but also more expensive. I have used BioSpot and found it did a good job for mine and less expensive.

Well I am a groomer and we use Zodiac in the shop and I also use that on my two dogs and I have never seen or heard of a problem with it.
I don't know if you know this or not, but Flea and tick spot on is just a helper. If your dogs already have flea or ticks you need to clean and vaccuum your whole house, you need to also bomb or spray your house and you need to consider where the fleas or ticks came from. If its from your back yard, you need to have an exterminator out or spray the yard yourself. So you can treat your dogs for fleas and ticks, but that doesnt make them go away if they are already there.
Like I said, I'm a groomer and a lot of people think that a flea and tick bath and spot on treatment makes the fleas and ticks magically dissapear.

Seven Dust is toxic to animals .I use Hartz 3 in 1 flea and tick drops on all of my dogs you just apply one of the three tubes between their shoulder blades once a month and the fleas and ticks won't come near them. I would still dust your yard once or twice a year with sevin but not directly on your pet.One neat side effect is mosquitos stay away from them too.

I am a pest control technician. If I was you I would call a pest control company and ask them to treat your house with a pesticide called "PRECOR 2000" it is an aerosal. Make sure to vacuum your house as frequently as possible. Once they start treating your house you should leave with all of your animals and go to petsmart where they can do a flea treatment. Make sure that you're out of your house for 4 hours after the end of the treatment.
Ironically my fiance is a vet tech and she says you can use one of the following: advantage, frontline, or program (very expensive but is the best product.)
If there are any other questions please feel free to email me todaedj@yahoo.com

Seven Dust is ok, you can use diatomaceous earth (food grade), or Adam's Flea and Tick. All are safe for bedding and animals.

Fleas/ticks are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

Seven Dust is for the GROUND!!!! It's TOXIC to animals! Wash your pets immediately! Use Advantage or Frontline. ALWAYS check the instructions on a package. The directions and warnings on Seven Dust will TELL you that it is deadly to pets and small children!
