Please people, I asked earlier on what kind of dog i should get, and so we (family and I) went to the humane society and they had a dog, a puppy (3 mos.), and a special needs cat- so we decided to help them out by buying them- but i don't know what to name them.... help!
The dog is about a 1 1/2 years old- she is a French Bulldog/Pug mix, she is white with 2 big black patches on her ear and side.
The puppy is a golden/lab mix he is all dark blond with sand colored feathers. Very sweet (but naughty), we want him to go hunting, so something w/ one syllable. (not Duke)
And the cat- 2 years old, all white and partially deaf (naturally) with half of a tail (some kind of accident), she is the coolest cat ever and we need to change the name to something short and quick, so she can hear it better.

Thankyou to all the people with suggestions!

How much do you guys spend a month on dog food, and what breed of dogs do you guys own?

I believe it's getting a bit too expensive, in my situation. I have two 7 month old pit bulls, and I need to buy a 37 lbs of Royal Canin Large Breed Puppy bag every 12 days. I'ts an average of $44 everytime I have to buy them food.

So, are you guys happy with the results? And is it worth the price ?

We have a beautifully good natured Staffy who was rescued 18 months ago. We have been told they do not socialise with other dogs but I have heard of several, living together We would like to rescue another dog and find a friend for Holly. Someone is at home all day, every day so no problem there, but what is best breed?, or should we take her to Rescue centre and see what they say?

walk behind/beside, never ahead of the owner, in order for the dog to consider it's owner alpha? I understand that cesear millan-unsure of spelling-thinks this, but I have read that alphas in the wolf pack do not always walk ahead 100% of the time.

I am looking for a reputable place, clean facilities, we have an 8 year old cocker spaniel, she has been in a kennel before, but we of course hate to do it too often. Also a place where e could take her out for a time during the day, the place where we will be staying does not allow pets but there will be times when she can come with us.

As black Labradors go, "Sophie" is a big one at 120 lbs. Not fat, just big. I'm six feet and she can put her paws on my shoulders and we dance.

She came to me by my son, who was walking along the railroad tracks one day, and found her, with two siblings and their mother. The mother and siblings had been killed by the train but Sophie made it and rode home in the pocket of my son's army field jacket. That's a true story.

Of course this must have been traumatic and may have had some bearing on her disability.

Everyone always comments with things like, "Gee, she's a smart dog," or "Your dog is so smart," or "That's the smartest dog I've ever seen," etc.

The problem is, she's almost four years old and she still moves her lips when she reads. How can I correct this?

Ok so I have a 10 week old Lab puppy. He is the light of our lives! A WONDERFUL addition to our family, and I have owned all sorts of animals over my lifetime from cows to hermit crabs, so I'm not uneducated...but my crazy neighbor is starting to freak me out....I was talking to my neighbor and told her that if she heard some whining coming from my garage for a couple of days not to fret because I was going to let the puppy get use to the garage for a couple of days before I introduced him to the dog door (in the garage) leading to the fenced in backyard. She totally flipped and told me she'd call Animal Control because I was more or less torturing him by leaving him in the garage while I'm at work. What should I do? My landlord now tells me that she stole the last guys dog who occupied our rental property and was forced to give the puppy back...I'm scared to take my dog outside now! Suggestions?
