I've tried several other brands for my 3 greyhounds and they just didn't tolerate it. They were blowing coat and had the runs no matter how slowly I tried switching them, so I had to give up.
I've been feeding Royal Canin Maxi Mature for months now with great results, so yes, it is worth the price.

I buy Royal Canin Sensible Choice Natural Blend. A 30 pound bag runs about $38. That last my five dogs about 6 weeks or so (Chihuahuas). I have been feeding Natural Blend for about 5 years and I am happy with how healthy my dogs are. My oldest chihuahua won't eat most dog foods and this is the only one I have ever gotten him to eat every day. As long as the food is produced, I'll be buying it for Mr. Picky. All my other dogs show preference of the food over all other too, just not the exclusion of anything that isn't Natural Blend LOL.
Your puppies will probably eat a little more than they are now before they are done growing but then the amount they need will drop off some when they are done (puppies eat more than full grown dogs).

In Germany, it is the best I can get at a pet store. There is less digestive upsets, however I have noticed no other visible difference.-my Yorkie whose passed away ate this. My westy eats royal canine from the vet for sensitive skin. She does not chew her paws when she eats this. I am going to start my dog on raw diet. The breeder I am getting my Springer Spaniel from recommends it along with kibble. I agree with mandy. Thats a lot of food you are feeding your dogs a day, if it is a pound and a half you are feeding them each a day.

I have two adult dogs and use Royal Canin small breed light. I buy one 2kg every 2 months or so and that is enough, but I also feed raw meat or optimum canned food at night. The cheaper brands aren't as good and they tend to eat a lot more because it's full of fillers. I used to use pedigree and a few other store brands and found that it went so much faster. Both dogs look fantastic on the RC and are very healthy.
As puppies they need good quality food and to eat as much as they like since they are growing, changing quickly could give them diarrhea so you would have to phase it in slowly.
Once they become adults, the food isn't as important and I would then switch them to a good brand of working dog formula.

I am not a fan of Royal Canin as it does have fillers in it (corn gluten meal, beet pulp, and brewers yeast, a common allergen). I feed raw currently, but before I did, I was pleased with Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. It was $30 for a 35 lbs bag and it has superior ingredients to Royal Canin. A 35 lbs bag lasted 3 dogs (1 very high energy 60 lbs Malinois, 1 medium energy 45 lbs Aussie mix, and 1 low energy 65 lbs husky/Rottie mix) for about 2.5 weeks. So yeah, I think you are paying too much.

Pits aren't a large breed, why are you feeding a lage breed food? Pits are actually considered small-medium. And it sounds like you're feeding them too much. I can't figure why they should each be eating over a pound of food a day.
Find a less expensive but just as good/better brand of food. Go online if you have to, because $10 for shipping is worth saving $20. I've heard good things about chicken noodle soup for the dog lover's soul. Just get the standard formula, pits are not large dogs by a long stretch. Also, check the recomeded amount to feed. I did the math and you're feeding each a pound and a half a day, and that seems like way too much to me.

I own five Chihuahuas, I feed them all Royal Canin. My vet recommended it. I spend around $30 a month for a 15 pound bag. I'm happy with it, and my dogs love it.

I have a 45 pound dog and I spend $30 monthly on the raw diet. Royal Canin's a pretty good brand though, its worth it compared to what other kind of garbage-in-the-form-of-kibble you could be feeding them.

I've been using Royal Canin for two years and my Yorkie seems to love it. If you buy the bigger bags you're saving more money per pound so it's not so bad. Sometimes it feels expensive, but I think it's worth the price.
