This is a mutt... just like Goldiepoos and labradoodles... they are just mutts, too. You will not find them listed with the CAnadian or American kennel Club breed listings because they are not purebred breeds.

You might want to research both the Beagle and the Jack Russel, and see if they have traits you might like. Chances are, a cross will have some traits from both those breeds. Both of those breeds can be fairly challenging... Beagles tend to not come home if they manage to get out of the yard, and the jack, being a terrier, is very stubborn and tenacious, with a very big mind of his own.

Good luck in finding the perfect dog for you!

oh, I see that Peculiar has just told you the very same thing... I should read all the answers before posting!! Good answer, Peculiar!

It's a "mixed breed" dog or "mutt." Despite cute names like "labradoodle," breed mixes are just that - mixed breed dogs. It takes generations to establish a breed (a type of dog that reproduces with a defined set of traits). This doesn't mean they aren't great dogs - mixed breed dogs can be just as healthy and smart as the most pedigreed purebred - just that they don't qualify as a "breed." Were you to breed your dog (oh, please, tell me you plan to have it spayed or neutered!), you would get a litter with varying size, coat, coloring, temperament... in other words, you'd get a mixed breed litter.

Were you to breed Beagles to Jack Russells for many generations, until the breedings produced puppies of a predictable kind , with enough bloodlines (unrelated strains) to support strong genetic health, then you could, conceivably, create a breed. This may happen with some of these crosses, if they're consistent and careful about breeding, but unfortunately, most of these "designer dog" breedings are just a way to get more money for what is, in reality, a mutt.

Which doesn't mean that your dog won't be great, as most mixed-breed dogs are. Check your breeder to see that the facility is clean and well-maintained. Do all of the dogs look healthy, active and happy? Can you meet the mother and father of your pup? Do they seem healthy, with good temperaments?

Your best bet is to research the Beagle and the Jack Russell terrier each to find out what they're like. Your dog will be some mix of the traits of the two, with some traits that are uniquely his own.

Maybe you could call it a "teagle." In any case, it's simply a mixed-breed dog; it will probably have some of the characteristics of each of the parent breeds, so I would research those.

A Beagle/Jack Russel mix is considered a Jack-a-bee.

That would be a Mutt, or sometimes called "All Amercian," in polite circles.
