Every dog is different, but most have tell tale signs. Some common ones are pacing, circling, standing near you or the door. You will just need to learn your dog silent "language" so to speak.

He will go to the door or try to warn you by sniffing around for a good place to go.. watch him..He doesn't speak, but he will look at you with some desperation. Once you get to know your dog, he will have a routine. Food, water then potty.

Most likely one of three things will happen: it will whine, it will pace and sniff, or it will go in circles and then squat.
As soon as you see this grab the dog and get it outside asap. As soon as your dog goes outside and does the deed make sure that you praise it!

My dog stares at me until I ask "do you need to go out?" Then he'll leap in the air and run over to the door.

when our pup needs to go, he jst gets up, runs for the doggie door and goes in his spot.
before we introduced the doggie door, he would circle like a shark with his nose in the carpet, in an area where he pee'd the very first time we got him.

They will whine ,go to the door or worry you as a last resort before they do the deed.

They start whining, and scratch the door, or other stuff, and they walk around a lot. Sometimes they even bark.

pacing twards the door and whines constantly! but he will give u 2 min. before he goes in the house so we have to let him out!

Both of my Golden's will come to me and stare at me until I ask "do you want to go out", then they run to the back door.

When he starts walking around or tries going into other rooms that don't have people in them. or when they go sit or stand at your door looking outside.
