I am looking for a reputable place, clean facilities, we have an 8 year old cocker spaniel,she has been in a kennel before, but we of course hate to do it too often. Also a place where e could take her out for a time during the day, the place where we will be staying does not allow pets but there will be times when she can come with us.

Do you have a PetSmart PetHotel near where you live? I had to leave my 1 year old dog for a week and she seemed to do great at the PetHotel. They have atriums and suits for dogs, the rooms are separate from the cat area and you can request add-on services like treat time, playtime and doggy day camp so that your dog isn't stuck in his/her room all day long. They took care of my dog VERY well there, and they monitor your dog 24 hours a day (every hour during the day and once every two hours thoughout the night).
Check petsmart.com's website. If not, check with your vet because he may know a good kennel too.

Sorry I can't answer specifically, but speak to your vet, they can either board your pet or point you in the right direction. At least your mind will be at ease knowing that the kennel was recommended by your vet. I have an 8yr lab/cocker mix and I can't stand leaving him...breaks my heart! But sometimes we have to do it and I always use my vet for boarding.
