Most Great Danes love to ride. They also enjoy camping.
Make sure to do all of your research into Danes before you ever decide to get one. There is more to owning a Dane than liking ot go for car rides.

Depends on how big the car is. If you have a Sucking Utility Vehicle (SUV) that would help. Something the size of a UPS delivery van would be better. Heck, if your car does break down, why bother having him tow you when you could saddle and ride him into town for help. At least they don't slobber like St. Bernard's, or do they? Only had a close encounter with one of those "Gentle Giants" once at the home of a friend of a friend. Knocked and next thing you know this beastie had his paws on the door looking down at me. Wasn't crazy about dogs back then! Settled into an easy chair and the dog kept creeping closer. Next thing you know, my lap was full of of his head. Weighed 3 million pounds. Great experience! Left with not one body part missing!

You have three options:
1. The great dane runs alongside the car.
2. You hook the great dane up to the car and tie his feet to a skateboard.
3. You stuff the great dane in the trunk.

Well, the advantage is that if your car breaks down, the great dane could tow you!

They can travel in cars but it would be best if they are in a crate. Dont forget to make sure he has plenty of water/toys and that you take him out every 2 hours to play/use the bathroom.

I think it depends more on the dog than the breed. My yellow lab loves to ride in the car. My old one didn't. It's just a personal (dog-al?) characteristic.
