Hi. I have a 3 1/2 month old female lab puppy. EVERY time after our almost 2 hour playtime of playing fetch, running around, etc., when I tell her to get out of an ant bed or do something like go in her house, she will bite me. These bites ALWAYS draw blood and are leaving nasty scars on my wrists and hands. My mom says that "She's just a puppy and she's playing." But I don't believe her because the bites hurt and I have tried everything. Is she being aggressive? And a boy at a school told me to just get rid of her because "You SUCK with dogs." I'm mad, sad, confused and upset. Please help.

Should I get rid of her? And if I do, what type of dog should I get next? My first dog, a Beagle, was the most AWESOME dog I ever had-she was SOOOOOOOO sweet, and I lost her to a snake bite, then I lost my yellow lab mix to a heart attack, then I lost my rottweiler mix to a brain tumor. : ( What type of dog should I get? It can't be too small, though.

She doesn't see you as a leader to be respected. She bites you because she isn't done playing yet and she is letting you know that even tho you want to stop, she isn't going to.
You have to make sure that she sees you as a leader type, someone to be respected, and when you say STOP you mean game over.

First, that boy at school is a real jerk! Second, your pup need to recognize that you are the head dog in the house. If she bites, then grab her muzzle and firmly say NO. In the wild the head dog will grab other dogs around the muzzle with their mouths to let them know who's boss. Also, she may also be teething, so she's going to be more mouthy than usual. She will have her adult teeth when she is 6 mths old. You can ease her tooth pain with a cloth dipped in water and frozen. Let her chew on that, and it will help her mouth if it hurts. Be patient, and consistent on the training, and your lab will grow up to be really lovely!

When she bites you, try yelping loudly. Puppies do bite as part of their playing but she needs to know that it's not okay. Try going to your local library and getting some dog training books or sign up for an obedience class. You will have a lot of fun doing it.

My aunt was having the same problem with her pup. Try putting her in a submissive position on her back and use your hand as a claw to hold her down. This is what mothers do to their puppies when they get out of line. Do this everyday to let her know that YOU are in charge and not her. Don't let her up until she is calm and relaxed. And remember when you do this you need to be calm and assertive. Dogs know your energy and if you're scared and nervous that's what she will be too. I hope this helps.

She is being dominant and doesn't want play to stop.
She needs to learn you are boss and when you say enough she has to accept it.
Start to teahc her basic training such as sit drop stay and reward her for doing what you ask. At the end of play put her lead on her and take her to her bed ask her to sit and stay and reward her then walk off and ignore her if she tries to bite ect. When you respond to her biting she is getting the attention she wants tell her to sit and then she can have attention.

well puppy's do play bite but i dont think it should draw blood or leave scars ........................um well it depends you have to know your dog and you need to tell us how big the bites are. like are they serious or not. but if you do decide to give it away get a any dog you want, but from a shelter because theres alot of dogs out there that die because no one takes them from shelters k. dang why is all your dogs dieing? it might be because of the dog you feed them to if you feed it iams, pedigree,Purina, eukanuba, or any comerical foods then you should switch really bad to California natural, innova, etc. because comericalk foods put dead cats and dogs in there dog and cat food!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DOG!!!!
hope you dont have to give her away!!!

By what you are saying I believe she is a little aggressive, but she is a little puppy and if you give her time she will become less aggressive. It's just a stage that all puppies go through.
