I feel that its bad to start giving dogs people food because it can be difficult to get them to eat dog food which is much better for them. I learned the hard way. Now that I finally got my dogs eating dog food., they also dont beg as much which also is not a good thing. Also make sure NEVER to give a dog pork as it can make them extremely ill.

Yes. Dogs stomachs are not meant to digest most of the junk we eat. As other people said, you definitely have to watch out for certain foods. But just because a dog does not get sick from something you feed it, doesn't mean that it's OK for it to eat.

The only thing I would ever allow my dogs to eat is plain, cooked white rice when they were sick. It is very easy on the stomach. Other than that, I would definitely not encourage it unless you talk to your veterinarian about specific food that you intend to include in their diet.

Lots of vets and "experts" say it is, but my 11 month-old Boston terrier doesn't have any trouble with it. He'll eat just about anything, but always in moderation. He gets just little pieces of food, not whole sandwiches. I'm sure feeding a dog fast food all the time would be bad for it, but a little here and there won't hurt.

Seriously, if not dog food, then raw meat. No gravy, no veggies. In the wild they ate raw meat.

People tend to be squeamish, so Purina and the like market kibbles, stew looking meals in a pouch and other things that people like to see - as they are the ones with the cash. It's all in the marketing.

Depends on what you mean by people food and how much you are feeding your dog. My dog generally can have a taste of anything I am eating (with a few exceptions)...but he also gets fed raw meat, premium kibble & canned food. One of his favorite treats is dried cranberries! But human grade meats, fruits and veggies, raw or cooked, are great for your dog.

I sometimes make my own dog food with brown rice, carrots, apples, parsley, sweet potatoes, lentils, chicken livers & gizzards, beef heart...cook it all up and run it through a grinder with raw apples & carrots. My dogs love it! I freeze it in 2 day packages.

Things you should NOT feed your dog:
cooked bones, esp. poultry or pork
grapes
raisins
chocolate
raw yeast dough
milk

And any food with wheat gluten in it produced by Menu Foods

Alot of people balk at feeding their pets raw meat and raw veggies. It's all the brainwashing from the pet food industry. Big money there. Heck, the vets make a few bucks from your sick pets too ya know? When I changed my Lab/Chow mix to BARF, he had more energy, his coat looked better and the eye goop disappeared. Seriously.
If you think of it this way............our dogs and cats are descendants of wild dogs and cats. What did they eat? Raw meat and raw food. They didn't have anyone to cook it for them, they didnt have processed full of junk dog food. They ate raw meat. My dog has come home w/ stuff that looked like it might make him really sick. Nothing does. Dogs have very strong constitutions. If you really love your pets, go to the link I provided above and read about some of the stuff they are putting in your pets food. It'll make you mad. Also if you feed your dogs and cats BARF, you don't have to worry about what is going on right now, with all the pets dying from the conventional dog food. Love your pet...........give it BARF. :-)
