My dog (lab/chow mix) will be 1 yr. old in March, and is about 36 pounds right now. Our vet says he's healty and looks good; even though he is small for his age. I'm lookin at an apartment that won't allow labs due to their size, but he's so small. My question is, how big will he get being that he'll be a year next month; and labs usually reach their size at a year.

My dog has a herniated disc in his back. Our vet gave us some muscle relaxers for him and said we could try surgery, but it might not help. Will a chiropractor help? If so where could I find one that is close to where I live (Surprise, Az.)

My weim pup loves for me to get in the floor and play rough with her, as if I was another dog. Is this a mistake? Will this make her more aggressive or less affectionate with other members of the family?

We bought a chihuahua (who is adorable:) in hopes of later breeding her. I took her to the vet today for a routine check-up and found out she has a hernia. He said it can fix itself or if not he will fix it. He said he probably wouldn't breed her. Has anyone had a female dog who had a hernia and later been successful in being a mother? Please help!!!

I got a Papillon puppy a few days ago and I am feeding him Purina Puppy Chow and Pedigree Puppy food- I intend to stick with the Pedigree. Ironically, they both want to eat each other's food. The puppy, who is about two and half months old, keeps climbing up and eating my Husky's adult Pedigree food. Is this bad for him?

I don't intend to let him eat a great amount of the adult food but should I worry about him having a small amount?

My dog shakes like crazy when certain people come to my house. It's not all guests, but only a few couples...very weird. Additionally, he does very strange things during these times.

A. he acts like a cat and tries to go on top of things he would never do if people werent over. Example - climbs on my chair, then my desk, then walks around my desk and just sits on my desk.

B. Goes in the bathroom and walks into my walk in shower.

When I'm laying on my bed or couch when people are over, he needs to be touching me at all times. Whether its sitting on my foot, or sitting on my hand, or laying next to me...and he just shakes.

He still licks me and plays and plays fetch, but he's just shaking like a meth addict.

Any reason for this? Or is this normal when people have company/visitors ? He's 5 years old, and I dont remember him having this problem up until the end of 06.

i opened my door just recently to go grab the newspaper and my dog rushed out because a smaller dog ran in front of my house no damage was taken and i paid for the full service for getting the other dog to the vet. i needto know how cna i train my dog to listen to me and not attack smaller dogs . this only happens with small dog because when hes going against a bigger dog he is more friendly and wants to play so what can i do to prevent this from happening again and my dog is a german/ greatdane mix.

I have two dogs, 1. Staffordshire Terrier, & 1 Great Dane Cross, when they play fight, the Great Dane always sneaks up and grabs the Terriers back leg/s and then pulls her, by her leg until she turns and fights back. Sometimes after a particular fight or a few playfights, she will walk with a noticeable limp. (from bruising or damage?) I am worried that if this behaviour continues over the years she will develop hip problems or she could end up with a limp for the rest of her life.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a solution?

we have a neighbor that walks their dog without a leash 5-7 times a day. it comes by the window to growl and get my dog upset EVERY time it passes by. the neighbor does not care and keeps allowing it. I was wondering if there were any suggestions to deter the dog from getting that close anymore.
