My dog shakes like crazy when certain people come to my house. It's not all guests, but only a few couples...very weird. Additionally, he does very strange things during these times.

A. he acts like a cat and tries to go on top of things he would never do if people werent over. Example - climbs on my chair, then my desk, then walks around my desk and just sits on my desk.

B. Goes in the bathroom and walks into my walk in shower.

When I'm laying on my bed or couch when people are over, he needs to be touching me at all times. Whether its sitting on my foot, or sitting on my hand, or laying next to me...and he just shakes.

He still licks me and plays and plays fetch, but he's just shaking like a meth addict.

Any reason for this? Or is this normal when people have company/visitors ? He's 5 years old, and I dont remember him having this problem up until the end of 06.

Something has frightened him.U could try getting a crate or cage and do it up like a little house for him n put him there when your company is over so he can feel safe and secure.U can even leave it open but he might prefer it closed and away from the people. The reason for being always near u n that is bcuz u make him feel safe.Oh ya put something in his little house that has your sent on it.

I've seen it happen before. Ony certain people or times of day...most of the time it starts with trauma. Have any of these people kicked him? Accidently or (YES it happens) on purpose? Or did any of them get hurt in front of the dog? Or show a LOUD emotion? In my experience they have all been the cause. One guy was talking about a football game loudly (you know how some really get into it) and the dog, everytime he heard touchdown or saw someone dancing wildly he would start to click his teeth together, shake and pee on the spot.

Yorkies are a one person dog...they are very small and feel the need to be around the person who always is there for them..He feels secure when your there with him..My guess is someone or something has scared the pajeebies out of him, so therefore he cant leave your side....Try getting him a companion, another yorkie or small dog to keep give him company..Good luck.

I call it the small dog syndrome.

My Rat Terrier is a terror when anyone comes into the house. She barks like mad (behind the couch lol). Her fur raises up like a cat and she occassionally will run in circles

It can be a nervous habit too.

This is pretty normal, especally for Yorkies. They are very skittish dogs and people coming over have disrupted things and the normality of home. The best thing you can do it just reassure your dog and let it be close to you

they are small dogs and get nervous easily. just spoil him when people are over and carry him around so he feels safe. maybe you had a big party in 06 or something that just spooked him. try hard to make him comfortable

as a breeder of yorkies. yes it is common, but I have breed puppies that don't do that. because they are in homes with lots of people that treat them like children and they get a lot of attention.
