But Well being that I do kiss my dogs, or should i say they do lick my face, I totally understand your being grossed out. Think about it this way, by a few days from now your dog's anti bodies will probably kill off whatever germs might be on your mind. This too shall pass. But shorten up that lead next time your passing any spit on the street.

Dogs will eat roadkill if they can get it. The digestive system of a dog (starting with the enzymes in its saliva) is much stronger than ours and very unfriendly to bacteria. This is what enables them to find a garbage can a culinary delight. Many of the scary virus that can be found in an infected human's saliva are not transferrable to dogs. in the sceme of disgusting things a dog can eat, licking up human saliva is pretty tame. Your dog licks his butt. They lick other dogs butts. Do you seriously think spit is going to hurt him? Your dog forgot about that spit 3 seconds after he came in contact with it. You should too.

Spit would be one of the cleaner things dogs will eat or put into their mouths.
If you are freaked by that you better keep the dog in the house forever.
They will eat almost anything. Poop, dead things, hoof trimmings, other stuff they find.

Unless whoever/whatever spit had rabies, which can only be transmitted through saliva if there is broken skin, I think your dog will be just fine.

i wouldn't worry about it, but if you are that concerned, call the vet.... there's no harm in asking them over the phone if anything is wrong, and you will get the right answer, Y! Answers can be quite unreliable, but seriously, call your vet, it won't cost any money, (well the phone bill) but besides that, there's no harm done!
