Our dog for 14 years recently died and my family and I are thinking of getting a new one, much larger like Saint Bernard or Great Dane size. We have a medium sized yard, and we took our old dog walking 5 days a week so he got pleanty of exercise, and we would be willing to do the same for a new one. All of the kids in our family are 9 and up. Do you think a large dog in our household would be healthy, safe, and happy? Do you have any breed suggestions?

On wensday I went ouside to get the mail, and run my Doberman. And on my way there ( i have 5acres, it takes 2 to get to the front gate) I saw a dog in trying to get in my chained linked fence. So my Doberman ran as fast as he could, bared his teeth and hair, and wouldnt let me near the gate. So I made my doberman Get away from the gate, and I went up the the dog and it was a Pure bred pitt. he jumped up on the gate so i petted him and he was really sweet. So i let him in and automatically my doberman saw that it was okay, but towered over him to let him know he was here first. and I checked him for and I.D or tattoo but he had neither. And i asked everyone on my street if they were missing a dog, nobody did. So I made the mistake of feeding the dog becuase he was REALLY thin, and now he wont leave. I tried to push him out of the gate, and when i did, He got right back in an hour later. But i am 99.9% sure that this dog does not have a microchip.

It was mucusy and it had chunks in it. I've heard that dogs can get food poisoning. Oh, and I've been feeding her Iams. We are trying different foods because she is really picky with what she eats. Please help!

My shih tzu suffers terribly with itchy skin, and she constantly licks her paws and stomach. I have had her to vets and nothing seems to work. Are there any good home remedies?

My black retriever passed away a year ago. He was such a happy friendly dog to the end. The walks we had together in the park realy lifted my spirit. He was twelve and a half, and the vet said he'd reached his life-span.

My 6 month old dachshund/bull terrior mix (with whatever the daddy is too) likes to do nothing more than play play play. Never a break. I understand he is a pup and this is normal, but there is not 5 minutes to myself with my little guy, not even to go to the bathroom. He barely knows his name it seems and tends to ignore us when we call him or try to get his attention, especially when he doesn't want to stop doing what he is doing. I work diligently trying to train him but he only listens when I have food in my hand.

He is getting neutered next week and I would love to know what to expect from him. Will he calm down? Will I be experiencing a set of new problems with him? This is not my first dog, but is my first male dog. If you have any websites to view, please list them.

She is quite a nervous dog, very stubborn and very insistent. We have tried shutting her in the kitchen, in her box and in the living room but she is so persistent. If we shut her out we don't get any sleep.

I have adopted an abandoned dog that is around 10 years old. When she was found they foud out she had contracted filaria and had not been cured so the filaria had spread and reproduced already doing a lot of damage in lungs and heart. I was told the traditional cure for filaria which consists in two shots that kill the worms, was too dangerous to perform as the worms die and enter the blood stream and can cause a stroke . Now the dog caughs a lot ( she takes Fortekor + an antibiotic+lasix) and I don't know if it would be better to risk the operation at this point or anyone else has another advice for cure. Thank you so much

My Corgi Miss Piggy is I believe retarded! For what ever reason this dog will sometimes not do her business! Right now she's been sitting out on the patio for about an hour refusing to get on with it and I know for a fact she has to go. Usually I have to put her out and close the door and the blinds because she won't do anything if I don't. Why does this stupid dog do these things?
