I want calling an animal shelter to be a last resort.
I dont have the money to put an ad in the newspaper.
I dont mind putting up my phone number but I dont want people coming to my house to see them.
any ideas??

I figure that there are people that would take them, but think the animal shelters are alredy burdened enough with finding homes for other little critters

st. lady......the shelter here dont kill them, I wouldn't either, I'll keep them if I have to.
that only means they wont get the attention they deserve.....you should remove ST. from your name and replace it with something that fits your persona....something really angry sounding?! sounds like you need a valume.

ok, I'm not asking anything but a good way to find a home for puppies. Does anyone know how I came to have a dog or numerous cats? Maybe I should start dropping them off like they're dropped off here?
I live where alot of strays get dropped off and take care of alot of animals or find someone willing to take them.
The shelter gets tired of hearing from me and the dog warden puts them to sleep.
Maybe before some of you give me stupid answers you should learn the facts first, eh?

I don't know what area you live in, but that is ok.

Contact your local shelters and animal rescue groups. Here is a link for you: http://www.mypetnanny.info/PD/index.htm

See if you can find a no kill shelter or rescue group. Or at least one that doesn't need to kill animals very often. Rescue groups are great too. They are trying to save lives. Keep in mind that some are overburdened with too many pets and will not take owner surrenders. They might be willing to post something for you.

A shelter/rescue group will do background checks on anybody wanting to adopt their pets. Very important!! There are a lot of cruel people out there who will abuse the animals. (It's not stamped on their foreheads that they are abusers either.)

If you place an add in the paper, please do not offer them for free. Reasons why: http://www.mypetnanny.info/Page_Information/Pet_Tips/Safety%20Tips/Free_Pets.htm

Screen all potential adopters. Do not adopt to anybody that you feel uncomfortable with. Let them know upfront that you have somebody else interested in your puppies who have first choice.

One last thing: Please, Please spay/neuter your pets. There are many benefits to spaying/neutering your pets. http://www.mypetnanny.info/Link_Pages/Lost_Found.htm#Spay%20&%20Neuter

FYI: the St Lady has a lot of anger because I can almost guarantee that she sees this everyday. It hurts knowing that you can't save them all and irresponsible people will not spay/neuter their pets. You have to understand where she is coming from. If you volunteer for a shelter/rescue group, you too can't help but feel the anger/hurt that grows from within. There are way too many people who have no idea how bad it really is. (I do agree her anger is a little to strong, but understand where she is coming from.) Well maybe if you don't want to deal with finding them homes you shouldn't be breeding. If it was an accident, maybe you should have the bit ch spayed if you are too irresponsible to own an intact bit ch.

You said - " but think the animal shelters are alredy burdened enough"

Yes, so why are you adding to it? Do you think we are having a shortage of large unwanted mutts?

St. is right, "no kill" just means they send the ones that don't find homes to the kill shelter. Technically, they don't kill dogs there, but they do send them to a place that does.

"Maybe before some of you give me stupid answers you should learn the facts first"

The only "facts" we know are the ones you tell us. Do you think people should just automatically KNOW? Do you have any idea how many people on here let their dogs breed making yet more unwanted puppies? Or breed on purpose and have no clue as to how to do it? THAT is why people jumped on you about it.

Put up signs, especially at dog related places, but even in grocery/convenience stores. Put an ad in the paper, it is not expensive.

Once you find a home for the pups, you NEED to spay your dog. If you can't afford it, call the humane society and they will help you find free or extremely discounted services to get this done. You can also try calling local vets to see if they provide free or discounted spay/neuter services to those who are income qualified, or if maybe one of their regular customers will "sponsor" your dog to get it taken care of.

Good luck!

As a side note, if you can't afford a newspaper ad, you should be honest with yourself about whether or not you can afford to properly care for a dog. While you're looking for a home for the puppies, you may want to think about finding a home for their mama too. It sounds like maybe you're not financially able to provide the kind of care that the animal deserves. There's no shame in admitting that owning a dog is a lot more expensive then most people think when they get one, and no matter how much you love and care about the animal, there's a lot of critical aspects of caring for a dog that cost money.

I actually need a puppy. You could try asking your friends and neighbors if they would like a puppy. Or you can print off flyers and ask pet stores and vet clinics if they will allow you to post them. But if i were you i would still want to meet the people so you know your puppies are going to a good home. You could maybe drop the puppy off at their home so you can see the conditions it will be living in. Then you should get your dogs spayed or neutered so you don't have any more puppies to find homes for.

You have to be the stupidest BYB I've ever heard of. The ML members on here are telling you to take YOUR MISTAKE and leave them at the shelter. YOU are the reason these dogs WILL suffer!!! Hope you can live with yourself!!! Get rid of all of the dogs while your at it. BYB'S Like you shouldn't be allowed to own the bugs that crawl in your house. YOUR TO Blame and people like you for the shelter being over burdened. Go ahead add to the problem!!!!!!!!!!

You own an unaltered dog and have had nine weeks of pregnancy also, I hope at least six weeks of puppies and now you come on here looking for a way to dump them? Just how irresponsible are you? Well, that's a dumb question on my part, its blatantly obvious by your question. MORE CRAP NO ONE WANTS!! Poor pups, why don't you just kill them yourself and save the shelter from the dirty job?

I work at a NO KILL shelter and that only means they ship them out to be KILLED. So grow up and see the truth. As far as my name is concerned I'm the one that cares for my animals. Not letting them have unwanted pups. And you need to learn to spell.

If you have access to a 'no-kill' shelter that would be best.
And try to get your female neutered. May animal shelters will help you with this expense.

You should try to find a home for them, near u, at someone home where u could visit them when do u wish, at someone who loves them, who's making everything who can do to help them. Someone who wants them, and who you trust.

Make posters and tape them up on stores or even put them on peoples cars. Just put the price you want for them, or put a big FREE! sign on there. Also put a picture of the puppies on the poster or flyer.
